Amsterdam/Netherlands

Hi
I am planning do to Interrail in my summer holidays.I’ll pick the zones with spain and france (E and F I think). For those who don’t know:
That means that you buy one ticket and can drive around for a month with the trains in about 6 european countries.

Anyway, since Netherlands are in my zones as well, I consider spending some days there.

Are there any “You GOT to see that!” in Amsterdam? Which city would you go to apart from Amsterdam?
And whats your favourite headshop? :alien:

Go to cannabisculture.com and read about whats going on in Amsterdam. They are having some trouble with a right-wing group trying to illegalize pot again. Oddly enough the next city over, Haarlem, is free of controversy and has some rather nice Coffee Shops you might want to hit up. There’s a whole article on planning a trip to the area I believe.

Have fun, T!

Well as a local i think i should give at least a reply to your question

I don’t know anything about headshops since i don’t go there, but i can tell you there are a lot of them.

and as a tourist you probably want to see the red light district

as for other tips on where to go, that depends on what your interest are.

Do you want to see a lot of wooden shoes and windmills: volendam, zaandam and marken are the places to be.

do you want to see some historic towns, see leiden, delft, maastricht, haarlem.

do you want to have exessive fun and go out: amsterdam

etcetera.

There are definately some very cool coffeeshops around that you might check out, but try to avoid the “big tourist shops” which are very crowded and have annoyingly high prices (like bulldog on Leidse plein). Some of the nicer smaller shops are located in the centrum so you dont have to walk for ages to get there (small shops like Free Adam in the Damstraat are cool, or The Stones in the PC Hoofdstraat) theres many like them there… i spend quite some time there hehe :cool_laugh: ). And while you are at it, there are just a lot of small shops in the Centre area, headshops smartshops, artshops etc they are nice to stroll by and take a look at.
And just dont react to the obscure dark figures trying to sell you stuff by whispering “hasjes? cokaine?..” heheh…

Ow and for a list of all shops around try this

check the links section

have a nice time !

Thanks
Yes, actually I didn’t mean “headshops”, but coffeeshops.I think you understood anyway.
I’ll have a look at the links to find some cool ones, since I want to take the advice and don’t go to the big expensive tourist shops
