Anger trigger, any advice maybe?

Hello dear people,

I’m having a problem here. I keep being really ticked off towards people that aren’t very spiritualy conscious and say the most “blind” things. In general I’m really a peace loving accepting person, besides for that aspect. Does anyone have any advice how to deal with this? Again and again this problem infuriates my ego-mask, it’s ingreatably(sp?) bothering. Right now I’m learning to embrace and accept this anger and then let it go… yet I’m also trying to locate the source of this anger so I may resolve this.

If anyone is having anything to advice, or an alike experience, please share it with me .

I decided to do one of those “automatic writing” approaches :

“Q” stands for questioner, “A” stands for answerer. Both questions and answers where written automaticly.

Q: Why are you so angry towards those that tick you off?
A: It is them that put me down, it is them that told the sun not to shine, even while that sun didn’t want anything else but to shine.

Q: Them?
A: Those that can not see.

Q: How are you planning on solving the problem?
A: Wake every blind person up walking this planet.

Q: Yet the rage you carry stands in the way of our very own awakening. What about that?
A: But it is them that cause this rage, it is their fault! I HATE THEM!! They have put way to much water in our dam!

Q: When did you start feeling this way?
A: The very moment I started to sense that society can not accept what they do not understand, they did not understood me, they answered me with hate, and made me wear a mask to survive. This specialy started at that sorry excuse of a school, that religious school…

Q: But right now my friend, right now we may shine again. It is now you who is not allowing us to shine, learn to let go of your rage, learn to forgive, it is not their fault that they can not yet see, it’s not their time yet, many must still evolve trough such dualty, negativity and chaos. You and I can live in peace if we manage to both accept eachother. You where merely a mirrior they bumbed against on, remember that they are blind and could not have seen the pain they have caused you. They do not understand this yet.
A: Who will teach me? Who will accept us? We will be so alone, I’m so afraid to be alone .

Q: Remember what I said? “Let your heart and soul be your teacher and life it self your school”. People will cross our path once again . Right now they have defeated you, they made you not shine for more then 16 years! By charising this rage, you are charising their ways, and even walking their path. It is the same hate they had for you, which is now in you towards them, making you blind.
A: How can I let go of this rage? I see now that you have a point.

Q: Practice compassion, forgiveness and love. These are our divine keys .
A: :).

Understanding the nature of anger can help, I have found.

Anger is ultimately rooted in fear. The release of chemicals in the brain causing aggression can be quite a good natural defense when faced with a predator or some other potentially deadly challenge. Notice how, when anger kicks in, the focus of energy turns to the body and the brain feels almost turned off.

Aggression plays a much different role in society today. The people on this board know how important it is to utilize cognition, with a calm and relaxed center. In martial arts, although the body is the medium, the mind plays the biggest role. If you let aggression take over, your relaxed opponent will see, and take advantage of, openings you create with lack of focus. There will be ways to take you down that you arent even aware of.

Exactly, I see now why this anger is triggered, it is the fear for lonlyness.

do you do martial arts ??? maybe you should take it up. i find it’s an excellent outlet for negative emotions and also good for spiritual development. not all instructors are created equal though :yinyang:

Maybe a good start would be a change of perspective. Instead of referring to people as “Blind”, why not try “People with different opinions”? I’m not a spiritual person, and I wouldn’t consider the reasons for this to be a lack of enlightenment, experience or knowledge. It’s just my opinion, and my expression of such shouldn’t cause anyone to get angered or upset. After all, it works both ways. I try not to get annoyed when a religious fundamantalist takes off on another generic rant about salvation or spirituaity.

Topic aside, though, anger management is very important for maintaining a functional discussion or debate. It doesn’t help either side if someone becomes aggrivated and starts attacking the opponent instead of their presented ideas. How does it effect you and your life when someone doesn’t follow your beliefs? Quite simply, it shouldn’t. At all.

But then, we’re all guilty of forgetting this from time to time.

I find I often go through the same kind of stuff you do, Xoalin. At least you are in tune with your feelings and have that connection with your sub-conscious so you don’t walk around completely oblivious and, as you say, “blind.” The best I can do is tell you about two great books that have been quite helpful for me. The first is Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and the second is Power Vs. Force by David Hawkins. I don’t know how easy it is to get a hold of these books but they are worth the read. When all else fails, you have support on the forum where you can share your views with like-minded people.

Good luck.

Thank you for your replies and insigths people . Now that I have realized my source of the angers and fears it wasn’t that hard on letting it go. I realize that all that time I have been pushing my fears and angers away, but naturaly these won’t be just pushed away, they will remain and merely gather up. I find it much easier to accept other their views now, I just have to realize that they have not experienced what I have, and I have not experienced what they have . Allot has changed for me the last few days, I have much more peace within me, no more inner struggle. Allthough I still feel there’s something pushed away, but nothing regular meditation can’t handle or eleborate .

And yes, I do take martial arts actualy . Aikido and Tae Kwon Do, great arts and are indeed good ways of letting go of negative energy. Yet if one does not resolve the source of his own negative energy it will just come back, atleast that’s how it works for me .

excellent point, but if i could expand a bit more. i think it’s every bit as important as to give your negative energy an outlet as it is to study the source of the negative energy

btw i do aikido too… that and cuong nhu :yinyang:

also an excellent point. people are going to be how people are, it’s a waste of energy getting mad at people for being… well… people
