another n3wbie q&a

hey all im new to lucid dreaming, iv kept a DJ for a few days now (no LD 's yet) but iv noticed my sleep patters have been very volatile since i actively started trying to remember my dreams. i had the extraordinary ability to sleep away whole days at a time, alarm clocks never worked with me and nothing short of a bucket of cold water would wake me in the mornings (my dad was all too happy to oblige with the bucket lol), but since i have started keeping my DJ i wake up a few times every night, and in the mornings i wake up skeptically ON TIME ??
is this a normal thing has any one else experienced this. i have been using auto suggestions , but nothing to do with what time i wake up.
just another newbie >> j
thanks

Moved from General Lucidness. :dragon:

I’m no Pro LDer either as I havn’t had a LD Yet :content: But I can understand what you are talking about, It happens to me alot Also  I don’t know If there is an explanation I will keep reading this Topic to see if there is any good reasons :content: But it’s a nice feeling thow always waking up feeling refreshed.

It’s happened the same to me as well. Now I wake up at any time I want, multiple times in the night even, and with the will to write down my dreams to boot  that’s something I would have called miraculous not 2 years ago, since I’d sleep up to 10 hours when possible and would still be sleepy at times.

dragon you are right, i feel refreshed and it is allot easier to get out of bed and yea it is a miracle now that i look at it, the waking up on time part is amazing. but the midnight wakings, could they be a conglomeration of the auto suggestion “i will remember my dreams” and then after every REM cycle you wake up to aptly remember the dreams of that cycle before the next cycle is initiated.
notably whenever i wake up in the night i am not tired so it is highly likely that i’m not interrupting stage 3 or 4 of the cycle .

I too dont know for certain but its interesting

Ooo. Yeah I have noticed that, Waking up about 4 or 5am and remembering a dream sooo clearly, But I get my lazy mornings which I regret and fall back to sleep  I really need to stop doing this Because I forget the dreams after I have had another 1 lol. Oh Well ^^ I won’t forget or get lazy tonight. I wish you Luck on having your First LD!!

Actually i kinda have the same thing going on. I recently started keeping a DJ, maybe about one month ago. I have noticed on numerous occasions i will wake up anywhere from 2:39 am to 2:50 am with a whole dream fresh on my mind. I will spend about 10 min writing my dream down and then i will go back to sleep. I have noticed that ever since i started my DJ, i have been waking up with more detailed dreams. I have also noticed that when i neglect my DJ for a few days(usaully on weekends) my dream recall seems to decrease. I think that when you record your dreams in a DJ, your mind kinda realizes that dreams are important to you, and therefore giving you better dream recall. I also think that your mind realizes when your in REM sleep, and wakes you up so you could write down your dream in your DJ, because its realizing that your dreams are very important to you in waking life. I dont know if that made any sense lol, its kinda hard to explain  I also have not had a LD yet, but i feel that i am getting closer and closer. Good luck in becoming lucid
