When I went to bed last night, I couldn’t sleep after MILD, so I started breathing meditation, focusing on the air coming in and out of my nose (this helps me get DILDs too), and I relaxed. After about two or three minutes, I suddenly realised that I was at the edge of an ocean of warm water. I could see it and feel it, just like in a dream. As soon as I realised this, I coudnt help but focus on my RL body (same as when you get excited the first few times you LD, and end up losing it), and it went away. I’ve had this before every now and then while meditating as I go to sleep, but I wanted to know if anyone has had the same experience.
Also, seing as this was RIGHT at the beginning of sleep (not in a REM cycle), was it a dream, or perhaps heavy HH, or even something else? Has anyone been able to induce an LD like this when they go to bed?
Hmm, I experience this sometimes, usually right before bed, something will happen that makes me jump and I wake up real fast. I wonder what that is… It could be HH
Hmm it doesn’t seem to fit the description of HH (from the information provided), but if I had to wager a guess I would call it a very light dream. Your thoughts probably started drifting away and began to manifest a dream, then you suddenly realized what was happening, thus abruptly ejecting yourself from the dream. That’s how I interpret the sensation.
Archdreamer you started a ‘breathing meditation’ and probably accidentally had a weak WILD into a dream; This would correspond with the WILD’s capability to go straight into a dream.
rad: your explaination seems quite plausible. If this is the case, then I’d love to hear from anyone who has managed to enter a full on LD from this, as, because I did this while going to sleep the first time, this could mean that with practice, an LD could be induced literally at will, as there is no need to be sleeping beforehand, or do do this after having slept. Exciting
I sometimes have little dreamlets when I got to bed. Most often in conjunction with WILD attempts or somesuch. It goes away as easily as HI so I took them for that. Especially one in witch I responded to my brother talking and by doing so making it disappear and realising it wasn’t real. Another was lucid and I was shocked at the realism. it disappeared, just as easily as the wonderful songs you may hear, and forget at night. I say it could still be HH, at an advanced stage.
This happens to me every night I focus extremely on my thoughts. I’m not drifting off and thinking about the future/past, but I just “see” words in front of me, and focus strongly on them. Sometimes I even whisper them for greater effect
After just a couple of minutes I find myself somewhere else. Suddenly I “wake up” from this place and I’m very much awake.
I wake up to a strange sound each time … It sounds like my brain gets a zillion volts zapped straight through. It’s a LOUD buzz.
I can only remember fragments of the “dream” as well. It’s weird
I get this almost every night, before I fall asleep. It’ happens during that period of time that can last as little as seconds before losing conciousness. I always get these little mini-dreams, but usually I detect that they aren’t “real dreams”, and I have the feeling I’m still awake. I think of them to be simple HH.
This could well be HH, at or durring the transition to a dream. That is what some people do when they WILD. It can happen when you first go to bed. It sounds a lot like what some people say about how they have very vivid HH and then can enter it to induce an LD. One of the main problems with that is that it is harder to recal the dream if you stay asleep all night after the dream. Other then that, if it works for you, do it!
One of the big attractions of WILD is that if you can get it to work, then you can have LD’s whenever you want. ( as long as the conditions fit what works for you )
