I was just thinking if a lucid dream is still a dream then does real life morals apply. Well if you kill a DC in a dream it doesn’t die also it doesn’t get hurt as it is not real. So is it alright to kill DC I would say yes. Also if your in a relationship and sleep with a DC is it cheating
Whats your moral view point on lucid dreaming
My view point is everything goes.
Ofcourse. In a dream, you can’t kill anybody, only play. But if you wanna go into wether these thoughts about killing are evil, that’s another story. Since I don’t belive in right or wrong, evil or good as something objective, I don’t think you should restrict yourself in your dreams if you don’t want to. Waking life is something “outside”, outsiders shouldn’t rule over your dreams.
Killing people in my LDs was one of the first additions to my LD goals list.
And no, I don’t think it’s wrong. In a dream, anything goes. That’s why it’s called a dream in the first place. If you can’t let your emotions and true feelings arise in them, where else will you be able to do this?
Really your dreamworld is an entirely separate culture from waking life, just like America is different from a place like ancient Middle- Eastern countries. In America, it’s illegal to have more than one wife, in some middle-eastern countries it’s expected to have at least two, but the rich people could have dozens. In other words, in a dream you can completely ignore all rules of culture. Cheating on your wife/girlfriend is, in my opinion, sort of different. If you’re not satisfied with your wife/girlfriend/husband/boyfriend then you might have relationship issues…
Still, even if you love your girlfriend/wife to death, doesn’t mean you’re not entitled to have desires and stuff. Just because you did something in a dream doesn’t mean you’ll have the same intentions in waking life.
the question is WHY do you want to kill anything in your dream? to explore??it is maby conected with the point that us humans are becoming pretty frustrated because we are living not the way we should so our animal instincts are too silenced… anyway think why do you want to “cheat” your girlfriend in your dreams…
If that “anything” is a armed madman, which at first killed few other DC’s, and now is running at you, it’s pretty obvious. It’s sort of killing worst parts of yourself, and defending yorself before waking up or a pain in dream.
Yeah, you sort of changed my mind, but I’m not gonna kill people for no reason. Only people I hate in real life. That deserves to die. So that’s nearly everyone. Oh well.
Well, consider the consequences though. I personally don’t have a hitlist and don’t revel in the desire to take life from any object, even animals or plants. What’s a perception in a dream is a perception in real life as well. If you think about it, the mind has experiences and we generate a perception of them that gives them an identity within our own mind. Usually these are visual and auditory. Waking life and dreaming life both generate perceptions, however one is defined by physical boundaries and contructs and the other is defined by your mind. But think… perceptions exist in both realms and are interchangeable, meaning we can remember things from either realm while in either realm. Imagination allows us to do so. All memories are perceptions. So because they are interchangeable, thinking of killing someone in a dream is the same as thinking of killing someone in the real world. Natural perceptions apply: the construct of right and wrong, pleasure and pain, etc. Without the physical realm, we woulnd’t be able to exist in a dream realm.
My point is, to imagine killing someone in a dream world has similar effects of perception on one’s mind. Such a perception caused you to post something about it, questioning your mental actions.
Although you don’t do it in real life, it still consumes your mind at a certain time. The experience still occurs in the world of perceptions, so you may be affected similarly.
Granted, the dream world is still one where you udnerstand that it isn’t real, your mind is still in control.
I would personally fill my dreams with more positive and constructive thoguhts and ideas, rather than negative thoguhts that tend to inhibit positivity and happiness. Due to natural moral limitations, it’s seemingly impossible to truly gain pleasure out of taking the life from someone.
… I agree with you now, Exige! ABout the constructive stuff anyway.
I would rather build something awesome in a dream than kill someone. But killing people is not on my list of things to do, although I will probably have to do it sooner or later…
I agree with Exige as well, kind of. If I kill someone in a dream, I don’t think it’ll be without consequences. At least, for me it wouldn’t. I can imagine that some fully and thoroughly realise that it isn’t real (and their subconsciousness as well I suppose), and that every DC in a dream is worth less than any real life object… But for me it’s too real to do anything I wouldn’t IRL. It still feels wrong. Heck, I don’t even want to write about me killing anyone, let alone “do” it in a dream…
Besides, I honestly don’t know why I would want to kill someone in a dream in the first place. Killing doesn’t sound like fun at all!
What I mean is, just because you feel like doing something in a dream, doesn’t mean you should have the same instincts in real life. I’m a very peaceful person IRL, but I’d like to know how it feels to take the life out of something/someone, but of course, because I know it’s a dream, I’d never attempt anything like this IRL, except in self defense, or course.
There are several other examples. I want to experience sex as a female in a lucid dream, doesn’t mean I have homosexual tendencies or anything. Dreams are there for us to explore, we shouldn’t be so uptight about it.
yes, we should take advantage of that oppurtunity to do whatever we want with no consequences or without the rules of society. Without dreams, we wouldn’t have a place to really let our emotions out. I would be fine to kill someonecoughwants tocough in a dream cuz there are no consequences. I would definitely not do anything like that IRL. As for sex, we all have a natural desire for it. Just cuz you are married/in a relationship doesn’t mean you can’t think about it. As long as you don’t do these IRL, then you are a normal person with a place to do them
Well, essentially, but that’s exactly what I’m saying. Experiences, whether dreamt or IRL, produce similar if not exactly the same perceptions to generate memory. Like it is said in the movie “Waking Life”, a dream perception is no different than a real perception and vice versa. The reason why we don’t run screaming when we think of an image of a dinosaur is because there is that perception of it instead, where we know it isn’t real and can make a contrast between reality and perception.
Anyway, do whatever you want in your dreams, but I’m not saying anything you do won’t affect your waking state of mind and how you then perceive things. Like if I were to have sex with this smoking hot girl in my Physics class in a dream, I’d remember it next time I see her.
Remember, people can go crazy lucidly dreaming (from what I have read). As long as you have a stable mind and can balance your dream world and your waking life, kill whoever you want in your dreams, as long as I can request it isn’t me .
Killing or hurting people IRL is considered wrong because it inflicts harm on another person. In a dream, nobody can be harmed.
But when it comes to cheating. Think, Why is cheating wrong IRL? It basically comes down to that your partner doesn’t want you to desire anyone else. Ofcourse we can’t control our desires, but we can control ourselves not to act them out.
Even though In dreams there is not another person there, the experience says different. Lucid dreams are as we know just like real life in terms of perception. Think about it! If there is nothing “wrong” with it, would you tell your mother about your dirtiest lucid dreams? Especially if she knows about the self control and lifelike nature of them. Granted it may not be as bad as cheating IRL, it’s not that innocent either.
Also is it right to sleep with a DC if your single. Going through dreamviews website I came across a person who had sex with a Digimon character
Is this acceptable. I will say yes, however were does the line end.
