Are you aware?

Random theory,

Firstly a disclaimer, i know nothing scientific about this and it is merely an observation, feel free to make corrections or point out flaws.

Scenario

Close your eyes.

imagine a place that you regularly go to. School? University? perhaps your Place of Work. note what you see. Make sure you note what 1st comes to mind. Then, Note in your conscious mind any physical changes that have occurred in the environment over the past several years and see if they are part of your mental image of the area. Perhaps this could be a new building or pathway. Now see if you can take this away to the previous state of the area.

Are you guys familiar with the new Geo coding feature integrated into some cameras, phones and mapping applications? could our visual memory not only be a map of previous environments we have been in, but furthermore it is Layered. I was just thinking about this on the train. The beautiful thing is that our creative mind can “create” or “fill in” the areas that our memory cannot. Some sort of perceptive render based on experience? or is it completely random?

Vividness of Dreams therefore Proportional to Creativity, Experience and Awareness?

Anyway, i was just thinking about this on the way home on the train lawl if anyone can shed any light on this or put their theory out there that would be awesome.

Sweet Dreams,

oooobs

Interesting theory, oooobs. I think that parts of it are probably close to the truth. I mean, the creative mind is responsible for lending emotion and feeling to memory, and thus can change the perception of that memory. The idea that memory is layered also makes sense in some ways. Just like how you can have multiple versions of the same program, some older, some newer, maybe the mind keeps track of changes in an environment in the same way.

I do think vividness and stability of dreams has something to do with creativity. However, I think it’s more important to be in touch with one’s subconscious memory in order to experience vivid dreams. If one can’t form a connection between consciously remembering a dream and subconsciously experiencing it, one can’t have very good dream recall or vividness. The only way I know how to do this is to practice a lot by keeping a good dream journal. Creativity seems to be involved with the subconscious, though, so maybe that’s why it plays a part in dream recall and vividness.
