Astral Projections from Waking Life?

Now i know astral projections are able to be induced from dreams. I myself have had only one, but it’s taken me to a place so beautiful that i have no words to describe it… but more on that in another topic. Anyway the idea is that in that projection, which was initiated from an LD, i started through a portal of sorts, made of yellow light. Once i passed through everything changed, the nature of the world around me, it was a different feeling than dreams, normal or lucid. All well and good but here comes the meat of the matter.

I have at one particular point, before this experience, had a lucid dream. In said dream a character in the form of a peculiar, sentient tree gave me a strange talisman and told me a word, and he told me to repeat it three times if i ever wished to return to where he was. Now immediately after this i woke up. It was not a false awakening, i performed thorough reality checks afterwards(i also felt my lips parched, this always happens to me in the morning, i need a drink of water usually). But for some strange reason, it occured to me to utter the word (sorry but i won’t reveal it here). I said it once. Nothing happened. Twice, again nothing. But the third time, the frame of the rather large window in my room became charged with a sort of yellow, glowing energy, travelling along the rim. I knew it was a portal, it was made of the same sort of energy the portal in that AP from my later LD was made of. I tried to step through. Big mistake.

I was literally knocked back flying(luckily i landed sideways on the bed which was behind me), with a sensation that i can only describe as being struck by lightning. I trembled spasmodically for a minute or two as if in electric shock, and then had a burning sensation in my testicles for a few minutes afterward :eek: BTW at no point in this experience did i lose my consciousness.

The only thing i can deduce from this is that had i not been stopped by that force, i would have… travelled somewhere, physically, and not from a dreamstate.

Has ANYONE here confirmed any sort of similar experience, or heard at least of the possibility of any astral projection or planeswalking directly from the physical world, without passing through dreams?

Any input much appreciated.

P.S. I’m not making this up, and i am to the best of my knowledge quite sane.

I really have no idea, and I’m sure that those words will only work for you. I’ve had dreams where a dream character told me some words, and I decided to repeat them one night, and I went back to the same dream as before, but it only worked three times for each dream. I’m guessing that this is the same logic, but taking place in the real world. Not sure how it’s possible, but I’ve had some strange things happen to me…

My mother and a friend have always induced APs from a waking state, I find the reliability of dream induced APs to be questionable.

I refuse to even intentionally attempt APs from a dream state for this reason.

As far as your question goes, yes it is possible to AP from a waking state, although you sound like you were in control of your physical body rather than an astral one?

In which case that worries me if you were definitely not in an FA. I think had you been in the astral body you would have passed through, but physical beings should not try and pass through to an astral world.

They would probably only work for you anyway. :tongue: Though I wouldn’t mind a PM of what they were either hehe.

I don’t think I’ve ever made a post on how I do it, I may write one out later if I have the time.

The short answer is that I do it through a meditative state. Although there are a few methods on my site if you click the WWW button. :tongue:

do you remember what the tallisman looked like?!?!? seriously do you realize that if you find it and do that again you could do some crazy crap?! thats where you messed up, it wouldn’t matter if you told us the word we wouldn’t be able to get through without that tallisman anyway.

Meh the talisman looked like a golden medallion of sorts. The tree streched out its branches and put it around my neck. The talisman episode was in the LD state just prior to me waking up. I don’t remember encountering it afterwards again, but somehow i have this nagging sensation that it’s part of me now… or at the very least it was only a symbol for something within me.

At any rate i know words are very powerful things. The world was created through them (remember: “In the beginning there was The Word…”?) but that they gradually lost meaning over time as more people turned language into something mundane, stripping it of its sacredness. But in dream and astral realms words, intentions, tend to retain their primordial power. Castaneda talks about this in the Art Of Dreaming, which i’m sure every oneironaut worth his salt has read :tongue:

So i have this theory that after my rather peculiar experience in the dream i did not have time to fully adjust to the waking world, and i still had my “dream mentality” so to speak, the knowledge that anything is possible. I’m sure for instance that had i tried to do this 10 minutes later, i’d have never believed it could be possible, and i would have failed. But this way, i just did it. And it happened. But you may be right Mohegan, maybe i wasn’t supposed to pass through so i got stopped. At any rate i’ll try it again in a dreamstate when i get my next LD or obe, and see what happens. Admittedly i’m a bit scared to do so :razz:

next time try to put the talisman in urself wile dreaming and then b4 entering the portal thing imagine drawing it out
