Becoming Lucid To Wake Up?

I’m not really sure what to post this under, but whatever.

A few nights ago I had a pretty odd experience. The dream started off pretty normal. Towards the end of the dream, I suddenly had some urge to go into my house and go into my bathroom. When I got there and shut the door I heard some voice saying something like, “Wake up, it’s almost time for the alarm to go off.” I became fully concious in a few seconds, but I didn’t know that it was a dream because the room looked perfectly normal. I tried piecing together what had just happend and noticed that it didn’t make sense, so I realized it was a dream. This voice kept saying to wake up, so I tried waking myself up a few times by closing my eyes really hard then opening them quickly. After a few tries, my surroundings started fading away. I was sitting in total darkness for a couple seconds and then I felt that my actual body was in bed. I opened my eyes, checked my clock, and it was about a minute before my alarm goes off.

Occasionally I wake up before my alarm goes off, but I have never actually been reminded to wake up while in a dream before. It was nice though because I am usually tired in the morning, but I was more alert after this happend.

Has anyone ever had something like this happen before or ever hear of it?

I’ve heard of it. Not this specific form of it, but your brain recognizes what time you set the alarm for and tries to wake you up right before it goes off. Your brain has clever ways of implementing this into a dream. In your case you heard the voice. Maybe if there was a bright light flashing then it would be the sun in your dream. It’s really amazing how our brains work, don’t you think?
