Brain overload!!!

Just wondering what exactly makes the brain tired, obviously it is from lack of energy but if there is a limit to how much information it can process in a certain period of time, can this limit be changed? Can the brain be made to work harder for longer? Or is the limit constant and impossible to alter?

You might be wondering why I’m thinking this, well, I’ve got a lot of school work to do lately and I’m damn tired, not from physical exhaustion but from mental. I had 3 hours of sleep just yesterday while doing some work. Anyway, I got more work today so I doubt I’ll get much sleep today too. So, the brain get’s tired, and it just stops working? Or can you push it further and rest later? Is this just a “pre-programmed” function to complain as much as it can untill you finally rest?

:bored:

Mystery

I think that is what caffeine is for

When I was studying for my leaving exam I studied every night for 8 hours straight. I ate LOADS of sweets.
Studying in the nights is very good for remembering, however if you exceed your limit too much, not only that you will stop remembering, you might also get sick, because not enough sleep weakens your imune system really much.

Also too much cofeine might make you sleep too… Only low doses work.

Ah well, thats from my experience, might be different for you though…

Uh… it’s better to study early morning because then when you wake, your mind is clear. You don’t have all this stuff that happened throughout the day clouding it, and then you can reflect upon it throughout the day. True, at night what you studied will get stored in your brain during REM (I think it’s REM) but that’ll happen at the end of the early-morning-study-day too. So don’t procrastinate. :ok:
