I tried to WILD with WBTB last night. It didn´t work, it never works This is what happened:
I woke up after 5.5 hours. I was up for 15mins, reading LD4all. Then I got back to bed. I relaxed, but I didn´t feel that it was going to work. It would take hours to get asleep. So, I stopped relaxing and changed my posture to something nicer.
As I turned to my side, I felt that I didn´t feel my body. I mean, I felt it, but it was like i was wrapped in silk.
EDIT:
Other questions:
If I cant get back asleep fast, what should I do? Sleep only 4.5h instead??
How can I keep my mind aware??
So isn´t that the purpose for relaxation anyways? To get your mind away from your body? If so, can I do like this: I would just relax for 10mins, and then turn to my side?
I’ve read from a few different places that the WILD technique can be difficult for those who can’t fall asleep easily. This, however, happens to be false.
It takes me a while to fall asleep, so, whenever I attempt WBTB and WILD I usually just stay in bed and try it immediately after I wake up. For me, this seems to work the best. If I stay up too long, my mind becomes too active and I can’t fall back asleep.
Keep trying different variations of WBTB, 4.5 hours of sleep just may do the trick. It’s all about experimenting and finding what works best for you.
Most importantly, don’t get frustrated! It’ll happen, and when it does you’ll be so happy!
It takes abit of experimentation to find the perfect balance between sleepiness and awareness, by altering the amount of time you stay awake before going back to sleep. I find I have time for a shower, or enough time for breakfast, but if I do both it will be too difficult for me to get back to sleep again.
The point of relaxing is so you don’t fidget and keep yourself up and so you can keep your mind focused. Also, to do WILD succesfully, you basically have to trick your mind into thinking the body is asleep, becuase your mind wakeful mind won’t shutdown until it thinks your body is safely paralysed. A sleeping body is a relaxed body, so you can see the relaxation makes sense (even if I don’t make much sense).
