I’ve been suffering from OCD for the last 3 or so years, and been thinking lately that “hey, maybe lucid dreaming can help me with this in some way!”.
So, I created this topic, for the following three reasons:
I want to discuss OCD in general and its relation to LDing in particular. Is it possible to treat OCD through LDing or use it as part of a therapy? Any known cases or personal stories? The discussions don’t necessarily need to be limited to OCD, as long as it relates to it in some way. Feel free to discuss other mental disorders or related matters as long as you keep somewhat on-topic.
I might want advice on certain matters, and I might be able to give advice to others.
I want to get in touch with other people that suffer from OCD (or anyone with a similar disease, or anyone with a interest in these matters). If you want to discuss these things with me but don’t feel like posting directly in the thread, feel free to send me a PM.
Hmm I have heard people talk about “reprogramming” their subconscious in their lucid dreams in this forum, but I have no idea how that’s supposed to work. If it does work… then yeah maybe it could help.
I have a thingy that’s the psych people never seem to agree on whether it’s part of an OCD or an ICD (impulse control disorder), that I’ve had for almost 7 years. Dunno if I should tell the whole board here or not lol, some people might be like Some people seem to think it’s really weird or something lol. shrug
Well I was thinking that if you find a way to “alter” your subc. in your LDs, maybe it would be possible to tell your subc to stop doing this or that. I’ve never tried though…
i think that LDs could be used to help treat OCD but i don’t think that LDs are all you need. For OCD what you could try is having a dream where you try to resist your compulsion and make the dream as happy and as fun in every other way you can think of.
