Can we actually predict the future?

Let me first state thiat this is a relevant snippet from a book I am writing (mainly aids in self discovery) but as this experience amongst other things sparked my interested in reseaching the LD/OBE/Dream/Spiritual world in general I felt it was relevant, ok…

As the title says “can we tell the future?” well, a few years ago I would have said absolutely not because nothing is written in stone, (so-to-speak) we as people are dynamic and make our own decisions (free will), for instance follow these instructions carefully… nod your head up and down slowly once in a yes type motions, now side to side once slowly in a no type motion now stop. Now ask yourself are you doing that because I told you? Was it planned for you to do that (beyond reading this book I mean)? Or was it simply free-will for you to choose whether you did that or not? Has it potentially changed any future event? And so-on. I always would have said it was my choice and that’s it – but now I’m not so sure any-more and let me explain why.

Firstly let’s talk about a deja vu, from our perspective when it happens it appears to you that this event has already happened and it’s so completely accurate; now scientists will often say it’s a glitch in the brain of some sort (it’s never been proven) and whether they’re right or wrong I am not sure, but let me then ask you this, if you dreamed your vision before hand and it was so clear and you remembered it, then a finite amount of time later this exact event actually happened with flawless accuracy on how you knew it would happen, what does this then mean?

Now at first, some of you may be thinking “absolutely impossible, would/could never happen” or something along those lines and some of you may be thinking the opposite or somewhere in-between, either way this has happened to me, I swear it has happened whether you believe me or not and let me tell you something – it was incredibly scary, I was like a lost puppy I did not know what to do. I kind of just stood there and froze and watched the events go by and pre-determined what would happen with precision before they took place. It probably only lasted about five seconds or so but it felt a lot longer.

I first tried to think rationally, like any medication that may cause this (which I was not on, nor did need), lack of sleep etc everything I tried to think of in a logical sense was not coming together, so I figured maybe it was a sign, a significant even, a warning of some sort maybe. I told myself that should this happen again that instead of being scared I will do something about it, what that something was I didn’t know; after that I kept hoping for such a dream but it didn’t happen, not until a year or so later but like an idiot I managed to convince myself I was wrong and such a thing would never happen and somehow block the past vision out my mind, so when this new one happened I was just as scared as the first time – I think the actual events are quite personal so I won’t go into them, but now I am brave enough and have had double confirmation it is actually real I am going do something about it. It was quite recent my last dream/vision were (without going into too much detail) puts my girlfriend at this current time in real danger, and it was after-all just a dream just like the others but it was exactly as realistic as the others, so without sounding like a crazy person I explained the dream and past events to her and told her in perfect detail about this dream so she can maybe recollect me telling her should (God forbid) this event happen and therefore countermeasure it. This event (thankfully) has not happened yet, but the build up to it is scarily accurate so far… I hope this time I am wrong, but at-least I’ve trusted my instincts and been brave enough to try and do something about it. In conclusion, whether you believe what I have had to say or not it happened and just when I thought I had a lot of things figured it that had to happen, it really got me thinking differently and can we tell the future? Definitively, I don’t know, but for very brief short moments in my life so far I have watched a predicted event I dreamed of with flawless accuracy right in-front of my eyes – what this means I’m not sure, but what I will say is this, if anyone of you go through this or a similar experience you should embrace it, don’t be scared it’s a gift. You’ve been given this vision for a reason so all I can suggest is you use your best knowledge and judgement to control what you do in this situation, but try to figure it out first.

Hi Craig – I have had a few experiences of predicting the future, both in dreams and waking visions. It does happen, and it’s not “coincidence” (as some scientists might assert) – and it’s definitely a jaw-dropping experience when it does. My belief/opinion is that time doesn’t exist, there is only the present… But when we have a powerful vision, and carry that vision with us, it works to mold the world around us. Much like we can mold the dreamworld with a thought… The waking world just takes more oomph.

It might sound completely unscientific, but I’m not at all convinced that the waking world is anything more than an elaborate, extremely stable dream world – in which we are all hapless DC’s… :nuu:

you should read Jackson S. Lincoln’s classic The Dream in Primitive Cultures. many cultures use dreaming for power and to see the future

Hey guys,

I believe it is. Most importantly however i agree a thousand percent with Dunlar.
What you said is so true - true to me.

Interesting stuff! it’s cool/scary how you can do that. i’ve had things in my dreams come true, but they were only little things. So i guess i don’t really have this whatever it is, or i’m just in denial lol  Anyways i hope whatever you saw happening with your girlfriend doesn’t happen in real life

Ehh, I don’t get all this precognition drama. Every person that had to plan her/his business strategy or higher military officials planning what to do next have to predict future in a sense. It’s normal, natural, nothing magical about it… it just requires a bit of intelligence, practice and good data -_-

I love this post, Dunlar. Spot on.

One thing, however. I think time does exist. It has a beginning, and an end, and in between are countless time lines, and we’re thrown smack-dab in the middle of it all. But we are only conscious of the present time.

It’s like we’re watching a film, we can only press ‘play’ and watch it from start to finish. If we had a different perspective, we could hold the reel of film in front of our eyes and see both the start, and ending of the film all at once.

Perhaps this is why people who have had Near Death Experiences claim to have witnessed their lives “flash before their eyes”. Different perspective perhaps?

The key to knowing the future, I think, is to become more acquainted with your subconscious, which, I think, picks up, and keeps track of all the little ripples in the sea of time.

Try to bring that dreamy, no-logic way of experiencing things over to your waking life. Become once more acquainted with your imagination; practice visualizing things in your mind like crazy. Because isn’t that what a dream literally is? It’s all a fabrication of your mind.

Oh dear, I’m really getting pseudo-scientific. Fun.

So many things people have yet to figure out. It can be very difficult with all these wrong and right answers dotted about all over the place.

There is a thing I wish to try (regarding this), but first I need to meet my DC. If I get to try it, I’ll let you know what it is and how it went. But until then, a very interesting topic indeed.

i dont think so or at least i dont think i can but their might be a possibility but it would take an extremely trained mind.
