Hopefully the title is ok I couldn’t really word it any other way.
Anyway lately I have being having ND’s everynight which is unusual since I didn’t remember a dream for ages and now I’ve had about 10 over the course of a fortnight this is due to trying to lucid dream. Most of the dreams I’ve had I couldn’t really experience them because I don’t remember having them until later in the day it will just click with me and I will be able to remember most of the dream, like this morning for example, when I awoke I was like aw damn I didn’t dream last night so I go down stairs sit down and Suddenly it hits me I remember the dream perfectly its like I’m reliving it. Anyway back to the point how can I DILD (cannot try most other techniques often because I don’t want to awake anyone in my household) if I cannot experience my dreams while dreaming them?
Is there anything I can do? Any help is appreciated
It’s actually very important to be able to appreciate dreams in general if you are practicing for lucid dreams.
I sometimes compare this with learning how to drive a car - you need to take formal lessons before you are capable to handle it on your own.
It’s more or less the same with lucid dreaming - you need to feel interested in them so that you are eager to record them and analyze them.
Also, you always dream during the nights, because that’s how your brain recovers itself (if you sleep for longer than 1-2 hours at least, which I hope you do!).
DILD simply means that you become lucid during a normal dream - and this is where dream journaling, dreamsigns and all that fluffy stuff comes from.
If you record your dreams and regularly go through them then you will become more familiar with them, and you will also learn to associate certain recurring events with being in a dream, and so you can practice that association when you spot those events in real life, like “hey, that thing often happens in my dreams, I have to check if this is a dream right now!”.
One technique that sometimes works really well for me is DEILD.
The way I do it is that whenever I wake up in the middle of the night, I write down the dream I just had, then instantly fall asleep again.
For some reason this has given me lucid dreams about 70% of the time.
I also recommend that you take a look at MILD, it’s a very deep and effective technique that trains your awareness so that you can easily recognize the dreamstate in the future. Here is an article that describes how MILD is practiced for best results.
1.) RC’s!
2.) Just ask yourself “Am I dreaming?”
a.) If you say “No.”, ask yourself “Why not?” and “What proof do I have”
b.) If you say “Yes”, See #1 .
2a helps you notice things in dreams that will trigger LD’s “spontaneously.” (hint: when people say “spontaneously,” they are really subconsciously noticing small things that seem slightly off.)
