Cant Even Blink?

Ok, today i woke up at 7:00am and figured that ill give mild a try. This is my first time trying this. So Im doing mild for like 20 minutes when i finally fall asleep. Ok so im in my living room but it has a blueish tinge to it so i figure out im dreaming. Ok so it is really clear and realistic but then i blink and im gone! I then have a false awakening (I was pissed off that my lucid dream was over to during my dream). Why did blinking screw up my lucid dream. It only lasted like 2 seconds.

i know what you mean, i’d close my eyes and open them and i’d wake up. its really fustrating. still trying to figure out what how to stop it though. i suggest dont think and blink

yeah man! last night i had a LD and i started floated and i closed my eyes to relax and feel it and then it went away.

Lasted like 5 sexonds. :sly:

I may have an idea of whats going on.
When you move your eyes in dreams, the really move that way in reality in REM sleep. But when you stop moving your eyes, or close them, they stop movingin the real world too. Its theorized that this can throw you out of REM sleep.
Perhaps, you kept your closed just long enough to enhibit REM sleep. When you opened them, it could continue, but because of that brief discontinuity, you lost lucidity.
My advice is not to close your eyes or stare at something in a dream for too long.

You could also just not blink, afterall it is a ld and why would you need to.

I have sucessfully blinked in a ld before and i didn’t wake up.

(I uisually know when something is a dream but dont become totally lucid as if i dont like it i wake myself up) So is this why I can wake myself up any time by scrunching up my eyes then opening them widely?

When I was really young and suffered from bad nightmares, I found a trick to wake me up:

I closed my eyes, stared at my nose while the eyes where closed and then opened them. This often brought me back to “reality”.

I thinks this backs up Josh´s theory
