I’m trying to have a lucid dream for quiet some time now, using WILD or MILD, but I have a problem:
when I go to bed, it can take up to 2 hours before I sleep, even when I’m tired.
I know I have to sleep, but I just can’t.
Now when I try WILD or MILD, it’s really boring to do this for 2 hours, and usually after some time I find myself to think about something else.
Your not alone, it takes 1 hour before I get to sleep normaly, let alone WILD, and MILD.
WILD,s and MILD,s are not for people like us, everyone has a weakness in lucid dreaming, exept for those few people who irritate me, and get to sleep in 2 seconds Like one of my friends, or those guys who realy make me mad that can have 9 LD,s a night!!!
so you wanted some help, well for some reason I hate scilence when I go to sleep, so I leave a fan, or some music on low. but if you realy want to fall a sleep fast turn out all the lights and make the room pitch black, I had a cub scout sleep over where it was pitch black, and fell asleep in about 10 minutes, works good with MILD’s. go take a number 1, that realy helps(you would be suprised). if that does not work, make sure you are not waring any silk, or silky material (it irritates the skin). then experiment with sleep postures I suggest to if your not all ready to not sleep on your back, if your not use to it, it might cause old hag syndrom( if you don’t know what it means look in the topics there are a bunch of post concerning it). sleep on your side if your atempting a MILD, exparement with hand positions.
I sometimes get the same thing titeuf, sometimes it takes me 5 hours to fall asleep, but I found that when it does happen, there’s a good chance that i’ll get lucid once i fall asleep!
A piece of advice, don’t try MILD or WILD when you first go to bed, but rather try them when you wake up during the night after 5-6 hours of sleep. It makes going back to sleep a lot easier, and the time it takes you to enter REM sleep after you fall asleep becomes shorter, so you would easily remember your intention if you’re using MILD, and easier to stay conscious during the transition if you’re using WILD. Although some people do WILD when they first go to bed, I have found that this will usually give me insomnia. Also, like fire stone said, some white noise like that of a fan can help you fall asleep.
If I notice that I can’t fall asleep I get up for 30-60 minutes, because I know that I just get annoyed laying there trying to fall asleep. So I might as well get up and do something. I usually read something and then when I go back to beck I usually fall asleep quite fast
^ yes reading is a very good way to help me get a little sleepier. I also try finding the most comfortable position, and do some minor breathing excersises to help get me relaxed.
also, with luck, you can find a bed that is more or less perfect for you. a friend of mine was in some research project, involving sleep or whatnot, and long story short, he was put in a bed, and it was so comfortable, that he fell asleep in mere seconds. the docs were like, ok were gonna do this, then that, bla bla bla, and, why are you so quiet?
