Complete newbie... some concerns.

I walk and talk in my sleep a lot. Would I still be likely to do this during a lucid dream? Or not, because of REM? I just want to be sure, haha.

Also, do you feel like the morning after inducing a lucid dream, you’ve gotten enough sleep? I feel like it would mess with your required rest because your conscious mind stays active. ?

Oh, and one more thing, hehe. I share a bedroom with two other people… I really can’t set an alarm for the middle of the night or anything… tips to get around this?

hello kismet, welcome to the forum.

A lucid dream is a dream like any other dream … the only difference is that you are aware that you are dreaming and so have control.

Most dreamers feel refreshed after a LD. I suppose if you had really long LDs in which you made a lot of mental effort to control most of it, you may end up just a little tired.

You can wake in the night by…

  1. setting the intent to wake up (just say to yourself “I WILL wake up after 4 hours” and mean it)
  2. drink plenty of water before bed … you will wake naturally to go to the toilet
  3. just rely on when you naturally wake up

by the way, many members get their best LDs first thing in the morning, by having an extra dream session on first waking.

Thank you!

I’ve found that I have a pretty good natural alarm clock - I wake up right on time in the mornings without one. They’re too obnoxious, haha. So maybe if I can reset my internal clock…

That, or wet the bed… :bored:

Alright, so here’s the story!:

My internal clock has proven reliable once again. I told myself I would get up at 2:30am. I woke up at 2:48. Close enough, haha. So I got up for about 5 minutes, and then got back in bed. I wrote down the dream I had just had, or at least what I could remember of it. Then, I struggled to remember the difference between MILD and WILD, and decided that I understand MILD better, so I just did the whole, “1- I’m dreaming, 2 - I’m dreaming, etc.” I got up to around 130 - I’m dreaming, and then my hands started to tingle, like when you sit on them for too long. I’ve seen people mention that on this site, but I didn’t think it would really happen. I started to feel really heavy as well. Then, something I’ve also heard about occured. I started to feel as though I was being rocked back and forth, minutely, but quickly. This would come and go in waves. At this point I got a bit freaked out, and then got tired, so I just rolled over and went to sleep normally. I woke up the next morning very tired.

Are these sensations common/normal, or was I just projecting them subconsciously because I had been reading about them?

You were actually doing WILD and these sensations are normal :content:

If you got that far, you don’t have to consider yourself a newbie anymore! :content:

Really? Very cool. What are the next signs I should be looking for/expecting? The next step, in other words.

I did a couple exercises the other night, but I’ve been taking a few nights off (finals - I need my sleep!). I’ve also been keeping a dream journal, but my entries are rarely more than a couple sentences.
