confusion help please.

So ever since summer vacation started I’ve been staying up late and couldnt get to sleep. I have to wait all night and half the day to be able to sleep. I would like to go to bed at 10 at night and cant do it. I feel tired but just cant do it. I tried doing this one night and It took me atleast 2 hours to fall asleep. I had my light off so its like pitch black in my room and I dont know when I wake up because its so dark. I ended up getting up at six but It felt like I never went to sleep just felt like It took me all night to sleep or something its very weird. Another thing I’d like to talk about is the confusion I have with day dreams and dreams. I think I mistaken day dreams with dreams because well whenever I try to go to sleep and I imagination things just so I can fall to sleep. I think of so many things that when I actully do fall asleep I dont know wether or not Its a dream? Haha yeah confusing right.

On the second point you stated, I must say that I also often fall asleep with my mind full of thoughts, however, the things you visualise is not a dream, at least, not when you go to sleep in the night. The first phase of dreams starts after around 90-120 minutes of sleeping. Therefore, the sights you see are either your visualisation of thoughs, or maybe (i’m not sure if this happens during NREM) - HI. However, since you seem to have problems with sleeping, there is a chance that your sleep cycles are messed up. If that’s the case, it’s hard to predict anything.
