Information about International Workers’ Day can be found here. I’d never heard of it before now, but that’s largely because it isn’t a celebrated holiday in Australia. Seems to be a much bigger event in certain other countries, however.

Anyway, judging from the responses so far, it looks like I’m the only person who actually enjoys and appreciates my job! :tongue:

It is good that this day is still celebrated. I see it as a celebration of us ordinary people :content:

While in Soviet times, this day was indeed celebrated as workers day (unfortunately i have forgot the exact name, but i think it was called “May Holidays”, or smt). Nowadays here in Estonia we prefer to call it “Spring Holiday”, and it’s indeed day off for many people who work from Monday to Friday. I was at work, but i got the double pay for it :content:
