As I sat in a café with my friend today we were wondering if it could be possible if one is highly trained in lucid dreaming and other sleeping and dreaming techniques to controll your phisical body while beeing in a lucid dream. Now I have, since I was a young boy having psychological problems with dreams and sleeping. Sometimes, very rarely though through the past years, very strange things happen to me while sleeping; I go to sleep just as normally and sometime at night most often in the early in the mornings I get out of my bed and yell out alot of strange things for example “Alien number 3!” or "The pot is an egg!. My dream while this happens is what I see through my real eyes but I see it like a dream, things are wierd and changing much like hallucinations but than then this evolves into a very scary dream which involves alot of round objects for some reason and these round objects have a very negative effect on me and makes me panic. Back to the subject, I was wondering if I could try to make this happen again and overcome all these negative feelings by becoming lucid if I could then be in a lucid dream while controlling my phisical actions.
I want to add that I have went to check if i’m a psyco or something and if some problems run in my family and I found no record of that being and I don’t have any psycological problems in daily life.
The round objects were like… small and big at the same time, I can’t really describe it. I’m not shure what to call this because I dreamt what I saw, My mother told me about what I was doing when she once saw me doing this and it perfectly fit what I thought was a dream. I didn’t see like I do in real life, I saw everything as if I were dreaming and I was not controlling my actions
Not to worry, I’ve had similar things happen to me, The times these things would happen I usualy notice that I’m dreaming but then again I’m still a bit on the “awake side”. 9 times out of 10 it occured in the morning hours, while it was light or just becomming light.
I’ll give a few examples of my own experiances.
While dreaming I was holding something, such as a ball of energy, drinking glass, ect. I would wake up all the way to find myself sitting up in bed with my hands in a holding position.
After just getting out of the army, almost every morning for about a two weeks, I would wake up standing next to my bed at attention waiting for the Drill instructor to come by for morning inspections. (sometimes I would yell “Yes Sir!” upon awaking.)
Woke up once to find myself playing the “air violine” while laying in bed on my back. I never picked up a musical instrument let alone know how to play one.
I have a theory about why this happens. When we sleep our bodies induce SP to keep us from acting out our dreams. At certain times throughout the night and every morning we wake up and go about or buisness. That tells me that SP usualy wears off before we fully awake. Every so often I believe it wears off right before we fully awake but while we’re still in the dream state, which allows us to act out the last few seconds of our current dreams.
I dont think what you experiance is very rare. Seeing things through your “real eyes” happens to alot of people like this. I have many family and friends, including myself who experiances this on occasion. Like I tried to explain, you may not be fully awake, but just enough for your sences to work at a minimal. Anyway thats the best way I can think of to clear things up a bit. I hope I helped more than I confused
Thank you svavarg for your response. I ask this question in order to verify if what you see could be interpreted as a “spiritual” experience , but it seems that it was not the case - or at least, it was not a common one.
I don’t know if you can make this happen again, but you certainly can overcome these feelings by lucid dreaming, which is a good way of overcoming nightmares and such stuff.
I have controlled my real body a few times while dreaming. It’s been a long time since I’ve done it, but the last time I did it I remember my arms felt very heavy, but I was still able to move them and feel things around me.
I know it was my real arms because I was sleeping next to my brother. I didn’t know he was sleeping next to me, but I started feeling his arms, then his chest, then his head, so I knew it was him. I then told myself to wake up, and when I did I confirmed it.
And that was just one time I did it. I’ve done it other times too.
