Could my Expectation of WBTB be causing insomnia?

So recently I got my alarm clock back out and set it to 3*90+15-45 (So that when it goes off I am already in REM)

Well now every night I wake up 2-3 hours before the time to WBTB, to compound this I stay part away and part asleep (Falling in and out) until the time for WBTB comes up. Then I usually just unplug the stupid thing and can go to sleep fine.

Could I just be expecting this too much and it causing me to wake up, I was thinking of not doing WBTB tonight (As I have not done it at all because I think the results will be improper if I have insomnia) But I really want to.

I like to think I have graduated this sub-forum but every once in a while I come up with a question I figured you people could help with.

I have the same problem, at the moment. I wake up an hour before the time I chose before bed and can’t fall back asleep at all.

Maybe the WBTB method isn’t the right one for us…

Strange thing tonight, I set the alarm like I always did but did not wake up early, also somehow my clock had lost power so the alarm never went off.

I suppose that it is not related.

i have trouble going to sleep now because i am so excited about the prospect of lucid dreaming.

i read somewhere that if you get too involved in it then you should take a break for a couple of nights. that would be my suggestion to you :o)

If you have so much excitement and are close to consciousness most of the night, perhaps you should try WILD. Sounds like the perfect conditions to me :hmmm:

Well it’s a perfectly normal thing you guys are experiencing. Expectation and anticipation activates the brain and inserts adrenaline into the blood, this will make it harder to fall asleep.

You will have to find ways to trick your mind into lucid dreaming. Like MILD or WILD!

Yes, I guess it’s similar to automatically waking early to go to work and then remembering it’s your day off.
If it does become a problem, then something like WILD or VILD might be better for you. Or perhaps setting the alarm for different times each night so your brain doesn’t get too used to being woken at one particular time.

I know what you mean last night i kept thinking about LD-ing and how I fall asleep. I could not fall a sleep til 4:30am

Well I have done and tried WILD before going to sleep (3 hours one time) and decided that I needed to do WBTB with it.

I have actually gone out and found out the root of my insomnia and it was in fact Stress, I will keep trying WBTB along with WILD.

Thanks everyone
