Hi Guys,
its been a pretty long time since i have had a discussion with you. Yest i woke up at around 2:30 due to nocturnal emissions, went to loo and came back. My regular REM Period starts from 3:00. After abt a few mins after 2:30 had a hypnogogic images of me searching for my uncle in the house. Suddenly i became conscious and felt a heavy lead blanket over my body and my entire body paralysed. I got scared and shook my body to freed myself. But felt upset as i missed a good oppurtunity to LD. Can u pls give me some tips on how to remain calm in this situation and convert it to LD?
Thanks.
It’s all about practice…
If you’re not accustomed to lay there still you won’t last even a few seconds but with practicing every night eventually you can get to SP.
The same is with SP, you just need to experience more and more SP “symptoms” and with time you will become calm in this kind of situations and you will induce lucid dream easily.
So i guess my advice is to do WILD as much as possible and practice having this feeling upon your body. And tell yourself that’s normal to experience while being under SP and that will make things easier!
Thanks db_fts, But what scares me more often is that i have read when u experience SP, lot of negative entities (of course, which is imaginary) may try to harm you. I am scared in this respect, especially since its dark.
You see, reading about this things makes you expecting them which makes you experiencing them…
I do a lot of WILD and only twice I had negative experience.
First one was with some kind of alien storming down to me and it scared me like hell, but when I came out of the SP I start laughing because I knew that’s all hallucination.
So after all it’s not that bad experience because I had a good laugh!
Second one was when I had a feeling that my left lung is not working and I had a feeling that I can’t breath, but I knew that this was because of SP and I remain calm and after some time body started to breath automatically and “pain” was gone…
You just need to experiment, whenever you’re in SP try to think about something cheerful and something beautiful, don’t think about old hag and this creatures… It’s about mindset and emotions! If you have calm state of mind and if you’re emotionally stable then there’s no reason to have negative SP experiences, of course they could happen but they are nothing to worry about!
As dB said, there might be accounts of scary WILDs, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I myself don’t get a lot of HH, so I really don’t get scary stuff. (I kinda take that back, I used to get scary stuff when I’d wake up an hour after going to bed or so, it would last 15-20 from when I woke up. Had a lot of spider themes. I never really got them when falling asleep though, unless I was already in light sleep and hadn’t been in it long, but I also wasn’t aware and never remembered the dreams or HH they came from.)
Either way, a lot of what happens can be from expectations. If I expect something to not work in a dream, it likely won’t work. That’s why I attempt to learn from my FLDs. If I can do it while not lucid, I could surely do such things while lucid. (At least, that’s what I’m trying to teach myself.) A lot of it is mindset. The dreams and HH/HI are inside your mind, after all.
I used to have this problem, but I eventually worked myself out of it by trying to tell myself that these feelings and sensations that were taking place meant it was working and I was almost there. Unfortunately, then I would get too excited and wake up, so I guess, in a sense, no progress was made. But even so, telling yourself that it is good that those things are happening was effective for me, and even more effective when I learned to control my excitement!
