So far I have achieved 4 full-on lucid dreams. During the past two, I have experienced a period of fear. The moment I reality check in a dream, everything temporarily darkens to a near extreme amount, and dream characters immediately turn hostile. My subconscious mixed with my conscious mind is left to fight the hostile dream character, as I seem to be in a state between controlled lucidity and normal dreaming, as in, I have some control over my actions, but “full” potential in my actions is obtained after killing the DC under normal circumstances. The dream character is not, per say, dead after that, they are simply rendered as a sort of faulty dream character, in which they do odd things like walk against walls and stuff, and are no longer hostile. The dream lightens up again, and I become what I believe to be fully lucid. Does anyone else experience this or something similar?
Sounds like this is nus product of your fear. It makes sense. Everything goes black and DC turn hostile, probably they are projecting your fear against you.
So the trick is in overcome this fear. I’ve noticed once when I’m lucid, there is constant need for me to remind myself that I’m dreaming. Every few meters I pass I do a RC, maybe you should do the same, but reminding yourself that you are in a dream and that there is no point to feel any kind of a fear.
In my last LD my best friend was there and he was just in my way. Acting hostile he attacked me, I defended myself and then grab him for his right hand and throw him away and I demand that he disappears, and he did.
There’s just this little but in LD the biggest element, and that is believing in yourself and your power within dream and yourself.
Also you can use mantra or auto suggestion. Good luck!
Thanks for all of your information packed into your reply! However, I’m not thinking it’s fear of my dreams, as I view dreams as an adventure rather than a peering into the unknown. Perhaps my subconscious mind begs to differ?
At the end, subconscious is you actually. I don’t know, maybe you just need more confidence inside a dream or WL. Maybe you don’t see them as scary experience but once when you’re inside a dream things get a little different.
I guess it’s on you to explore more about yourself and lucid dreaming and in that quest the book Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the Inner Self by Robert Waggoner may help. He’s looking and exploring lucid dreaming not just for fun but also to more understand himself, also exploring the subconscious…
Good luck!
