Dealing with WILD "excitement"?

Okay, I know I’ve asked a similar question before, but I am still having trouble inducing a WILD after about a month of trying it (with breaks in-between to make sure I’m not trying TOO hard).

Every time I feel like I am advancing to another “stage” of WILD induction, I become extremely excited, so much that it really ruins my attempt. I haven’t been able to get to HI or HH, and haven’t experienced SP yet, although I know that’s not “required.”

A little backstory:
I know you may look at my LD count and see that I have one, then wonder why I’m trying WILD, but I’ve tried everything else: VILD, MILD, Lucid Dream Induction through Tinnitus (ringing in your ear), the Chakra Technique, FILD…

And it’s not that I’ve tried them all in one week. I’ve focused on them individually, spread apart. No luck. I think WILD is personally my best bet for inducing a LD, and I don’t, by any means, expect to learn it overnight or in one week. I’ve practiced it for about a month now, I’m not trying too hard, nor am I being too overly-obsessed with inducing an LD.
Is there any way to deal with excitement? I’ve tried several things, including repeatedly telling myself that I have nothing to be excited about, trying to let the feelings come naturally over me – but no.

Every vibration. Every tingle. Every sensation, I become excited. And I have no control over it, it seems.

I would try a different technique, but every method I’ve tried thus far has been unsuccessful, even MILD!

Hahaha, it’s kind of frustrating, but I’m not letting it get to me, I still get so much enjoyment out of my NLDs.

Any advice? Any replies at all are greatly appreciated.

Well, it takes time to learn any LD technique. I’m not talking about days, I’m talking about weeks. And MILD doesn’t have to eat up a lot of time, so you can do that regardless of any other techniques you might be using. May as well keep going, so long as you understand how the technique works.

 1. Dream recall. I know the common advice is to be able to remember 1 dream a night, but I say go for as many as possible (3 or more).

 2. Know that WILD just means falling asleep while still having conscious awareness. There’s a hundred different ways in which people do it. You may just have to find the right way of doing it for yourself. As far as excitement goes… well, I guess it may go away with time if you already know that you have “nothing to be excited about.” It’s like any other effort that requires willpower I suppose.

I don’t know how long you’ve been pursuing LDs so I only have your join date to go by. But a month isn’t a whole lot of time. I didn’t have my first successful WILD until much later (like, a year and a half after getting into LDs). And that’s because all that time I’d been practicing it completely the wrong way (as in: wrong for me personally).

WILD can be very tricky to master, but it’s very cool if it succeeds. Don’t just discount other techniques, though. There’s much and more to be learned. It’s not a matter of just technique A or B or C. Many techniques can be combined for greater effectiveness for relatively little time. Auto-suggestion and MILD both take little time, so I’d say keep doing those regardless of any other techniques you may try.
