I think a lot of it is a placebo effect. The people that do it, especially teenagers and such, psyche themselves up for a “high” effect and therefore think they have one. Hey, as we all should know as lucid dreamers, the subconscious is a powerful thing.
I actually saw this a week or two ago, hah. Binaural beats can have effects on people, but not like this. These kids are only overdosing because they probably think it’s cool and therefore keep doing it over and over to show their hot friend Suzy how badass they are. I’m guessing a few of those people also undergo a placebo effect, over-dramatizing what the beats actually provide.
Society does not portray a very noble image, especially with idiot situations like these. Unfortunately, each and every one of us holds that deep inner desire to be noticed and accepted, doing anything and everything necessary to climb the ranks of popularity. Well, at least in grade school…
Hah… don’t get me wrong, but I love playing with my binaural beats on the occasion. I do adjust frequencies for LDing, and yes, I’ve tried a few of the “drug” ones that other people made; I have no idea what the effects are actually supposed to be so I can’t find the frequencies for them even if I had that kind of list. I have no idea where they’d even get those frequencies… I’ve searched all over for any kind of frequency list that has those kinds of effects and have found none. Back to the effects: not really much happened, I must say. And yes, I did it right… relaxed, wasn’t doing anything while listening to them… (Honestly, I nearly fell asleep instead.) I usually find my binaurals really relaxing, which is mostly what I use them for. Some of it may be placebo since I adjust the Hz myself and know what it’s supposed to do. I remember a few of my earlier LD frequencies may have worked, but I switched them out too fast (and got kind of used to them; can’t use them all the time and still have them work) to know which ones they were. Mostly I use them for naps… LDs… studying when I need something shutting up my imagination… Oh man, there’s a whole lot of frequencies in my studying one. I’d say it (or the placebo) works pretty well. Might just be the noise blocking out the other thoughts and such in my head, but I like the sound.
But anyway. Yeah. Maybe they do. Maybe they don’t. I just like having fun with them to get me to sleep and focus and LD. I know there’s an old topic around here on the forums somewhere about the effects of binaural beats on LDing…
I think it’s possible to create such effects by using the right sounds, but i’ve tried several of these and i’ve got several friends which have tried them, and hasn’t worked. I listened to some of them for an hour with no effect and i believe it’s placebo, atm anyways.
Like ZRVera said, I would only use the noise to replace the thoughts in my head. I’d like to try the binuaral beats though and see what effects they have on LDs.
I have only one binaural mp3 file, but I really like it, and it relaxes me. However…when I have one of those whopper headaches, I find that just lying on bed for 15 minutes listening to the binaural beat pretty much makes my headache go away. So frequencies can have some “drug” effect.
OMG. why am Im not surprised this was in Oklahoma. So now I guess were going to illegalize Binural beats. SOB!!! Its not dangerous. It relaxes you. SOB!!! AGGGHH!!! I cant beleive Im hearing this crap. Yea it a great idea to take it from them, then they can just huff gas. Now isnt this the same thing as Binural beats I find on youtube, or is Idosing something diffrent, because Ive never had that effect of laughing before. Is Idosing the same as this… youtube.com/watch?v=1ryD3XTC … re=related or something totaly diffrent? This reminds me of an episode I saw about the outterlimits where this guy recieved a signal from space, and it was these diffrent tones, and teenagers got really hooked on listning to it.
You know whats wrong with taking a drug through you ear. Weve been doing it sence the dawn of man. Like Guns, and roses is crack, cocain. Pink floyd is shrooms, and acid. Enigma, Dave Matthews is your laid back pot. So what the big deal? Lets just stop anything that makes us feel good. Please give me a link to this “Hands of God”
Well I tried it, is it suppose to have a blaste of white noise every few min. My expirance was negative. I think it was effected my hypnogogic state. At one point the I felt like I was sealed inside the I doser track, which felt like a coffin. It was not a plesent expirance.
I’ve been using bineural beats for quite a long time in use with meditation (at first) and studying. All they really do is relax you and put your brainwaves or whatever it is into beta, theta(I think this is the one we’re in during REM sleep), gamma, or delta, which are deeper states of consciousness. Since that is what you do in meditation, I find that bineural beats are like training wheels for meditating.
I think that it’s silly that anyone would try to use them as drugs to be honest. =P
i tried quite alot of them as well and all i can say is that there is most probably a Placebo effect; that mp3s wont work at all, because it is very important that those “i-doses” have surround sound; that there still is an effect besides the placebo (or the placebo is good in guessing) as i thought of the placebo effect as i tried lots of 'em i started reading the description only after listening to it, and such things as wake ups are bound to be functional, i mean how could you sleep with such noise^^.
As well as there is a dose specially for Lucid Dreaming wich pushed my dream recall alot!
(still may be Placebo but Placebo can heal and kill so i like to play with placebos )
the 9-doser work for me okay , maybe 5% , subtle effects at times
it is better from my learning to make your own binaural because then you an learn how long it takes to get a feeling from each tone, and what tones feel like what,
it seems to me that i need a ton efor about 30 seconds and i get a subtle entrainment, so within 30 seconds to a minute that tone needs to go to a new one, even if it is slightly different, generally speaking swweeping something like 8 hz to 4 hz to 8 hz to 4 hz , etc, might eventually make you incredibly sleepy and entrain to somewhere in the low alpha, high theta, low delta, etc,
i think i-doser works very well for people that can really entrain , completely , to it i would not use ones unless they feel like a safe and good idea though , i’ve found the “peyote” setting very soothing, and who cares about the news, at least people will go try it now that they heard about it, meditation can be a good thing for everyone to balance out their day and make them happier,
i know some people have become more mellow and kind people from using a brief i-doser track to calm themselves.
i would stay the hell away from the “gate of hades” track though, energy vampirism is an incredibly bad thing, i would never go near a track designed to take you to 'Hell"
