digital voice recorder

I’m thinking of getting one. I normally write my dreams on a notebook,
but this method might be more convenient.

I checked if there was a mention in the forum but I didn’t find anything.

Does anyone use a digital voice recorder? I’m thinking of getting a USB one, so I can connect it to my PC later.

Yes i use one.Just old fashioned one with the small tape(i guess i should call it ancient actually:).
I keep it by my bed to save myself troubles getting up at night ,turning the lights on,looking for a pen, writing.I record what i can remember and go back to sleep. On the morning or later during the day i usually write them down from there into (now thats ancient) notebook(with paper sheets).
take care.

Thanks, Jack. So it might be worth it.

But has anyone used one of these new fangled thingies, and
is there anything to watch out for when buying one?

I see I-pod has I-talk option anyone used that.

Or recommendations for digital recorder?

If you have a cell phone with voice recording function, you could try that (provided it doesn’t make fuzzy sound quality out of it).

Or: If your computer is right at your bed, and you got a mic, simply record to your comp.

I use my camera for voice recording.

Why kind of camera do you have?

I am looking for something small and portable that I can use easily in the dark.

I have a pen flashlight now, but sometimes I can’t read my writing in the morning. Other times I feel like I have to wake up too much to write.

I just want one button recording.

A friend uses a mini-disk recorder. Maybe that’s the way to go.

If you don’t have an mp3 player, maybe you could buy one that has a voice recorder function. They are relatively cheap now, compared to a couple years ago.

Canon Ixus 40

I bought a Sanyo digital voice recorder that also plays MP3s.

It also lets you set an alarm to play an MP3 file. So I have short MP3 that tries to cue me to become lucid. Set it to play at 3:00 am.

Digital recorder works okay for recording dreams at night. Less effort than writing them down.

Hope to eventually get voice recognition software to work with dream recordings.
