I heard that when you have a LD overnight you’re still exhausted the next morning even without WBTB because you weren’t fully asleep. The lucid dreams I have are usually in the morning after I wake up, so I can’t tell weather I’ve gotten a good sleep from it or not. Based on your own experiences, do you lose any sleep from having LD’s?
What you read is a bit of a myth. The logic fits; you’re “awake” during a dream so your mind is active while you’re dreaming, therefor you can’t be getting the rest you need. The truth is there is no difference in brain activity between regular dreaming and lucid dreaming. Your mind and body are still resting the way they need to.
Actually, Rhewin, i believe they have found a difference in brainwaves from LD’s to ND’s (Will look for article later).
But that doesn’t mean you are losing quality sleep. Personally (and I think many will agree) I feel MORE refreshed after having a good lucid dream.
There is also the fact that each dream cycle only occupies a small portion of your sleep, so even if it did interrupt your sleep, a single lucid dream would only be a few minutes compared to the few hours you’re sleeping.
To be more specific, no changes in activity resulting in a loss of sleep
I agree with Ysim. Even on night’s that I haven’t gotten my minimum of 7 hours sleep, I’ve felt rested. IMO, even after a good partial LD. I feel rested.
I wonder if it would affect you mentally though…since you’re more conscious and using less of your sub-concious, which is how you deal with stuff hidden in your subconscious…any thoughts on that, anyone?.. (should I make a new thread for this? I’ve been thinking about this lately)
