Last night I took my roommate’s copy of Skeleton Crew (a collection of short stories by Stephen King) for a little bed time reading. As I opened it up and thumbed through the first few pages of copyrights and dedications something caught my eye. A page with a single sentence at the top: “Do you love?”
Instantly a memory of a dream came rushing back. I believe it was a LD but I can’t remember and the only place I had it written down was DV. There was a girl with me and she asked me what at the time I thought was a very weird question… “Do you love?” I don’t remember what I answered, if anything.
Anyway if anyone has any insight or comments on the coincidence or the quote itself, let me know.
That always happens to me (well, not opening Stephen King books, reading quotes… but doing things that spark a memory of a past dream I would of otherwise forgetten)…
Such as: seeing/hearing somthing/someone on tv, overhearing someone, or sometimes I’ll just be sitting there and the dream spontaneously enters my memory.
It wasn’t so much that the book triggered the memory but it was the same exact strange phrase. I’m not claiming precognition or anything but it was just really weird.
In the book The Second Ring of Power by Carlos Castaneda Don Juan (the Nagual or “Shaman”) teaches Carlos that he must gaze at dry leaves day after day, move them in circles and try to find the design the leaves made in a LD, then he said that when he would be very talented he will see first the leaves designs in LDs and then he will find them in WL. He said also that he could try that with any object not specifically dry leaves.
So we can interpret this in many ways but IMO dreams and specially LDs are ways to create our reality.
I quote this part of the book unfortunatly I have only in spanish :
With that memory spark thing, is it especially strong with certain smells?
I know they bring the best out in me, and if i can’t match the smell to a memory t bugs me all day.
Yes, this happens to me all the time. I’ll just smell something and it’ll remind me of a certain time in my life. Though I can rarely recall the exact memory.
It’ sort of like the ‘on the tip of my tongue’ scenario, you know what the memory is, but also you don’t. Heh, i wonder how bad dogs and stuff get this, they have a crazy sense of smell.
This sounds partially like Deja Vu. Though I have had situations like what you describe. I would hear a phrase or see something that makes me recall an entire dream. It would make me feel like the dream was a prediction. Next time it happens I’ll post it here.
