I put some thought into this and it seems to me that the dream world might be its own dimension. I watched this video where this guy asked you to close your eyes, and imagine yourself walking. Now, imagine yourself jumping. You fall back down to the ground, right? Then if this is something you imagine, why doesn’t it happen in the dream world? That got me thinking. Why is it that for everyone, when you plug your nose you can still breath? Or we float when we jump? Or we flick off lights they might not work? I think that the dream world can very possibly be its own realm. and that each person perceives it differently based on their day, experiences, emotions, etc. I think this is why people have been able to mutual dream. The only problem with this is that I haven’t come up with an explanation for dream characters yet. But, tell me what you think about it and give me your thoughts on what you think the dream world is. Pretty awesome, right?
Hi,
I am not an expert LD though, i can still try to answer some of ur questions.
Why does dream differ from imagination?
What u r doing in dream is that u r merely projecting ur consciousness in ur dream realm. In physical world, our body is governed my laws of gravity and other laws but dream world is entirely different, here everything is energy and governed by expectations and emotions.
Lucid Dream Characters:
Not much research has been done on LD characters but it is widely accepted that they are different aspects of ur subconscious mind. Each character hv their own mass and intelligence and they represent ur different aspects and aquired characterstics…
i watched that same video thot that was very interesting… Its weird that its a universal thing for MOST people.
Personally, I think it works for everyone because we are told it will work. We read about it, and when we do it in a dream, it is successful because we know that it will be. A little useful mind trick, I believe.
The reason why everyone can breathe in a dream with their nose plugged is because everyone breathes when they are dreaming. When you dream, every perceived action has some physiological action on the body (you don’t separate from your body and go to another dimension). The reason noseplug works is because you’re not plugging your physical nose, you’re still breathing, in your bed, asleep.
I see your point, and i used to think like this as well, but i learned many things while i still believed in the theory you have right now.
The dream world in itself, is not a dimension. It is a realm, you can say, but the realm is personal to each and every person that experiences it. The reason we can all plug our noses and still breath isnt because this “realm” has its own laws of physics, its because our laws of physics do not allow for this, but in a dream, you dont breathe. Your not the one breathing, the “host” body you left behind when you “entered” the dream is. Technically in dreams you dont even have to breathe, but its a motion that seems to be transferred into dreams, so if you consciously stopped breathing, you would most likely stop breathing in real life.
We know the dream realm is personal because the dreamscape is literally a collection of thoughts bringing themselves into perspective in a way that is expressed the same way as our thoughts during the daytime. This is why everything you can consciously imagine can be in a lucid dream. Also: we know the dreamscape is personal because no person can dream of another persons memories if he has no previous knowledge of the event. Some might be able to, but their either psychic and having a shared dream or their lying.
I personally believe DC’s are collections of thoughts and ideas based on your views of other people. Depending on how well you understand people, and how a persons behavior works, the more vibrant and diverse the personalities of the dream characters are. But thats only based on minor personal “tests”. I dont really know what they are, but it would be a good topic to look into.
Pm me if your going to do some studies with dream characters, i would love to participate
