Since I’ve started my dream journal again, I’ve effectively boosted my recall up to 3-4 dreams per night. But a trend i have noticed is, i’ll have my first dream, and every subsequent one will have a plot that seems to have been picked up after the ending of the last dream. In the last couple, they have all have in common a general place or stream of events that seems to make the entire night’s dreams share a single canon. In one, it started inside a school, the second dream of the night was outside that school, and the 3rd was a different place but following events that happened in the 2nd dream. The streams are starting to get pretty common, anyone else share this?
Oh I get sequels all the time. But I never realise until at one point, dream me is like “Oh right, I was here when that last happened” and has a memory of it. It’s not even false memories, because if I ever go back and look for the dream I thought about in the current one, it does exist. Crazy stuff, but I always find it interesting to see what else develops in such dreams.
Funny how you made this topic cause this happened to me this very morning as well. I actually get it quite often.
Except the actual “Storyline” of the dream is sometimes never on course, but the setting and timeline is spot on. I find it pretty cool how they interconnect.
Use to happen to me as a child with nightmares all the time, except it was through DEILD, minus the lucidity part.
Now that I go through my DJ I noticed alot of my dreams sorta jump into the next and has some connected parts to it.
This topic made me remember my childhood dream which is about 10 years ago. (And no it’s not a nightmare)
Well, I say it is directly connected with recalling, as remembering a dream will give you a better chance of thinking about it before sleeping and causing you to have a sequel.
I’m pretty sure that’s the case because the topic triggered my memory of two dreams at once.
Whenever I’m able to recall more than one dream a night, they’re usually connected by location. I’ll be in a similar area or even the same area as my previous dream. I had a dream wherein I went to a small hotel somewhere, then I had another dream where I was another person at the same hotel. After that I was the person I had been in the first dream again.
I don’t really have anything fancy or helpful to say, but this reminded me of a dream I had a long time ago. . . .
I think I posted a childhood nightmare on another thread somewhere, but here goes again:
Basically, Spongebob gave this cursed demon box thing to one of his customers (he somehow thought it was a Krabby Patty), and said customer turned into a giant skeleton dragon monster. It seemed ridiculously scary at the time, but just plain ridiculous now.
Later on another night, in an interesting take on the whole reoccurring nightmare thing, I had a sequel dream dream where the skeletal dragon monster was just an annoyingly hard boss on a video game. The dream ended with me rage-quitting.
I usually have these when I go back to sleep in the morning. The people and places (or objects) are usually the same in these dream sequels. This morning I remembered 4 of these sequels and recorded just 3 of them (just notes about each dream)
