Does daydreaming improve LD chances?

i dont daydream too often unless i have time but this is usually before i sleep (or less conveniently–during something important. ive tried to stop that tho) but is daydreaming good for LDs?

Yes, I think so.
Daydreaming is a form of visualization, so it should improve your ability to “construct” your lucid dreams as well.

And trust me, you daydream a lot without realizing it.
I’m sure you find yourself thinking about something else and “zoning out” of the real world quite often when you are awake - that’s because you were just daydreaming and thinking about other things.
But a more active and “lucid” approach to daydreaming is arguably more effective while practicing lucid dreaming.

okk ill try noticing my daydreams more often/try to daydream a little more.
also what do you mean by lucid approach to daydreaming? you mean daydreaming about LDs or maybe trying to notice something out of place in my daydreams (basically treating them like regular dreams that i can visually control)? i am currently trying for ADA so maybe daydreaming using all five senses . . . anyway thanks for replying to this and my other posts as well i notice you are sort of a prominent member to the site with other posts/topics as well :content:

When I talked about “lucid daydreaming” I meant that you could practice becoming aware of your daydreams and alter them from that point.
This should theoretically make you better at recognizing your dreams and becoming aware in them as well.

Visualization skills are very useful, because they will improve your ability to imagine a dream in your head, which can be extremely effective if you attempt WILD.
It can even affect your ordinary dreams as well, so that you actually get a dream of the thing you imagined before falling asleep, and if you are lucky you might actually remember that this was what you were thinking about before falling asleep.

Another very interesting way to approach daydreams is to just be a “silent observer”, and allow the daydream to go its own ways while still being lucidly aware of the daydream.
It’s actually quite fascinating and exciting how a daydream can surprise you with all sorts of events even when you don’t try to change it.

I zone out ALOT, so I guess this is good for me.

Coming from someone who knows, more so than possibly 99% of the world population… No. Daydreaming does not increase your chance of Lucid dreaming. In some cases it can actually decrease your chances, as you’re accepting things that are not real in your mind, which reduces your ability to realize that what you’re experiencing in a dream is not real…

On another note though, it increases your control over yourself in your lucid dreams… Also in your ND’s. Which does infact also make it harder to LDl, as you yourself see ‘abnormal’ things as perfectly normal.

I do see where you’re coming from, since you backed up your statements. I thought I had this daydreaming thing good… ^.^

On the other hand, now I know what might be affecting me. I daydream the most in school, though, so I don’t have to worry about this too much, yet.
