Hi, I’m really new here as I think you can tell.
I had a question about lucid dreaming and was wondering if anyone had any info on this… to have a lucid dream, does your sleep have to be natural? In other words, does drug-induced sleep not allow for lucid dreaming??
I think I’m what you call a ‘natural’ lucid dreamer… I didn’t know there was a word for this phenomenon until, well, today. XD The dreams I’ve had and been aware and had control of have helped me in my creative work for the longest time and I owe so much to my dreams…
Until recently. I’ve developed a severe case of insomnia and have been taking medication, and ever since I haven’t been able to recall, let alone become lucid in any of my dreams. I supposedly should be dreaming though, because i sleep long enough to go through REM sleep.
I miss my dreams… I’d appreciate any kind of info or help!
Greetings qodoque,
First and foremost welcome to the forum. You will find a tremendous amount of help here and a lot of like minded people, many tricks and tips and places you can share your dreams and by the sounds of it you have had quite a few adventures.
Ok now to your question.
Sleeping tablets of the natural and unatural kind supress REM, but you will always have REM rebound later on in the night if you sleep long enough. REM rebound is where your brain goes over active in the dream state to catch up so to speak.
I too have a great deal of trouble sleeping and sometimes take sleeping tablets, I do find they effect my memory the next day but i have had many lucid dreams on the drugs and off so i can vouch that yes you can still have them.
There are many other ways to beat not being able to sleep. go to google and type this in.
NP2.
Click on the first link, its brainwave entertainment, you can use it to train your self to sleep and also have lucid dreams but as you say you are a natural maybe it can help you recall them
I would suggest using some of the many techs that are on this site, it will activate your brain into think ing about lucid dreaming and cause you to recall them better when you do.
Most of all good luck, have fun and sweet dreams,
Let me know how you go .

drugs can certainly affect sleep in numerous ways
it depends on what you are taking.

Thank you for the feedback.
i guess it does depend greatly on the kind of drugs. unfortunately I’m still experimenting with my doctor and haven’t settled on one yet…
Namaste, Bless you
try not to take sleeping pills,
when it seems right, go perhaps for alternative remedies
such as valerian root, melatonin (though it is synthetic), chamemile tea
insomnia can be beat the natural way , til you don’t need to take any-thing to go to sleep
but i have to ask then, do you always go to bed at the same time ?
no tv or reading or computer or games after sunset, and keeping all the lights off in the house after sun-set, helps a ton
if i do that, watch the sunset, then meditate in my room with the lights off, i’m liable to go to bed at like 7 pm lol
but lately i sleep in late
trust your intuition of course, its just always better to not have to take pills.
