To my amazement, I haven’t seen any topics or adds of how affirmations can drastically weigh in on your chances of having lucid dreams, or more simply remembering dreams. The only thing I have seen come close to affirming is “auto suggestion” which is a lot different.
What is an affirmation? Simply put, an affirmation is a short sentence created by the user to jump start the new attitude model so to speak. If someone for instance wanted to be more confident, they may repeat, “I am confident in myself” 5 times each day. This sentence, whether you believe it truly or not, gets into your subconscious, which is exactly where you want it. This is why I am shocked to find that affirmations haven’t been introduced to Lucid Dreaming before as far as I have read.
So have they helped me out? Yes, in fact it has been improving my dream recall very highly within just a week, memorizing 2 dreams every other day, mostly immediately. Has it induced a lucid dream yet? Nope, because I haven’t affirmed that yet, I have as a matter of fact just thought about affirming about lucid dreams just as I thought about making this topic.
So is it scientifically true? Yes it is, look it up for yourself if you don’t trust it. More simply, try it out for yourself. If you can make yourself honestly believe your affirmation while saying it, even better, but not necessary. I would recommend it, as it presents change almost right away.
What kind of affirmations might I use? I would stick to things like below…
“I can remember my dreams with ease each time I wake up.” This doesn’t mean you won’t have to sit in bed and remember each one, it also doesn’t guarantee that you will get a lucid the first night either. These lines go straight to your other-than-conscious-mind. Those of you that have gone through Photoreading, you know what I mean. The ones that haven’t, it basically means your hidden mind, the one that knows and perceives all sensory input. Another affirmation now…
“I can recognize I am in a dream any time I desire” Again it doesn’t mean you will get one right that night.
Now you can use mine, or even make your own up. However I warn you not to use ineffective words such as “not” and “no”, and “bad”. They are perceived as negative words, and will have no effect, little if any. Also avoid the word, lucid as it may not be completely recognized by your inner-mind. Also keep your affirmations directed in the present, like you are already able to do it, make your mind believe it.
How many times a day and for how long should I keep affirming to myself? I would normally do mine 5 times each, it doesn’t matter if you split it through the day, or say them one after another. Just get the point across. Like I said before, it also helps to really believe for that moment that what you are saying is true, feel like you can become lucid any time you want, really feel like you are able to decide.
I post this because I notice that people are trying to hard or it may seem, because I know I have tried hard in the past. Doing this still does not eliminate things like RC, or MILD/WILD/WBTB by any means. It is simply a technique I thought I would share with everyone, so that hopefully people can experience it and inspire others to try.
