Dream art and books about dreaming for the general public.

For the past days I find myself intrigued by the concept of Dream Art (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_art), basically because I’m not very creative in my waking state and because it’s a lot more easy to enjoy a piece of art that you know it has no meaning, at least from your point of view.

My first step is to learn the deal behind dreams a bit deeper than my usual Wikipedia level. Can you recommend me any books that prupose a general survey concerning the ideas about dreams from Freud to, let’s say the more materialistic view of Allen Hobson? What about “The Mind at Night”?

i dont know that book, but i think something from LaBerge is a good idea for a start (also to understand our brabble here hehe)

Yeah, I’ve read one of his books, no doubt the saint patron of LDing in sceintific light.
I decided to take a shot at the book mentioned above, and it’s quite informative. It depicts in a very easy to understand way the scientific exploration of dreams from the 50’s 'till 2day.
Though NOW I’m pretty unsure about the whole Freud/Jung thing. Their theories sound so… arbitary and not based when you compare their scientific fellows.

yea , i have that impression too , even on the first glance they just aren’t really scientific anymore (or better said , not up to the scientific standard of today anymore …)
Post Nr 440

Happy 450 postday!

I know that there’s a dude called Allen Hobson, he is considered as one of the biggest anti-freudian concerning dreams, he wrote several books, one of them is an interpretation of 13 of his dreams but from a physiological perspective. I think that this theory is much more cheering, since it basically says that if you dream of killing your father, it doesn’t mean that you probably want to… (we all know what, that frisky Freud). Plus it means that you can have some control of your dreams without being lucid (i.e binaural beats etc.).
