This is an idea that came to me whilst watching Paprika. In the movie, whenever the main character, Atsuko Chiba, has a lucid dream, her dream form is a different person. Rather than an uptight, quiet 30-year old, she becomes an outgoing, happy, fearless 18-year-old named Paprika. This avatar is not the exact same person, but not exactly a separate consciousness either.
It made me think. Why not try to assume a new personality in a LD? View the world from another perspective. Become that person you’ve always wanted to be, regardless of social/cultural inhibitions. After some practice one could have a regular dream avatar, a representation of their true consciousness.
Experiencing reality from another person’s perspective would be a really interesting and fun thing to do. Combine that idea with a 100 year dream and in a week you’ll be wiser than Socrates. Thanks for the great idea. (this would be perfect for the BIG fav. thing to do in a LD topic.)
Oooh, never thought of that! You could use that to solve conflicts with other people. Just take both sides and you’ll find the perfect compromise in a night.
