It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this board and I am back on the lucid path again (I hope…!).
However, I’ve been having much trouble getting myself to write my dreams down in the morning. I can always recall three to five dreams when I awake, but my inability to motivate myself to write them down is getting pretty annoying.
Anyway, I’ve been experimenting with my own personal version of “dreaming shorthand”. How does everyone here write their dreams down? I’ve come up with a list of about 10 symbols or so that I’ve started to use to make my dream diary easier. I am looking to do this in the morning, and then flesh them out on a computer journal at night, translating the dream diary shorthand while stimulating my memory of the dream for fleshing out the details.
What I do is simply list them in chronological order. I had 4 dreams last night, so I decided before I fully
awoke which one happened first. before I start writing I go “the first dream I had tonight” then the next few
paragraphs where the 2nd dream starts I go " the second dream I had this night"
After I write down as much as I can remember for each dream (I still get fragments myself. I know I forgot a
whole dream last night.) I open a little section on the bottom of my DJ for notes. so when I remember somthing
I post it at the bottom.

The goal is to remember as much as you can and to put them in some sort of order, sooner or later you begin to remember more and more, and your journal gets bigger and bigger
I try to write down my dreams when I wake up during the night and I usually just write down a few words. But sometime I just fall asleep because I don’t feel like writing them down. And when I get up in the morning I write the complete dreams down in my DJ. What I do to try and remember to write down my dreams when I wake up is that when going to sleep I tell myself to write down my dreams and I also visualize myself writing something down. That usually works quite well, but the best way for me to write down my dreams is to get either a LD or an interesting dream
For me it depends on night. If i know that i need to rest, then i don’t bother to write anything until i get up. If i don’t have any responsibilities scheduled by clock, then i try to write down some basic words after every dream, what can help me to recall the whole dream in the morning.
Then i’m too lazy to write all the dream(s) in the morning, but when i start to write them down in the evening i notice that even those basic words cannot help me to recall as much dream as i could recall in the morning. So i quess both you and me need to get over our lazyness (or to improve our memory) and write down the whole dream ASAP
