Is the Dream guide our subconscious? or is it a character we create?
I see a lot of debate over this subject on the internet. Some say all DCs are made up and controlled by you and your SC, while others believe in beings like dream gods, spirit guides, dream guides and a materialized version of your subconscious that all can somehow think for themselves and are separate from you.
I believe in the first view, but I would want to believe in the latter. And your subconsciousness is a part of you, and if we believe everything in a dream is created by you, then a dream guide is a projection made by your SC like every other DC and it’s also a character you create.
And if we continue this thought: If I want to talk with my subconscious, I would summon a DC of myself. It’s a projection of me, made by my SC.

I also agree, but there is something special about his psychological process of splitting our SC up in different parts.
Dissociating ourselves from a SC part of ourselves and giving it some way some life on its own can have very interesting outcomes. Our conscious mind has always a strong denying attitude for things we actually know subconsciously, so if you split up an let the SC interact with you through a DC, this DC can tell you things you consciousness does not now, or doesn’t want to know. So we can learn a lot about ourselves trough DC’s. Amazing, isn’t it?
That’s why we can get a very interesting answer if in a lucid dream we ask the monster that is chasing us why he’s doing that.
