I despise the dream interpretation books out. They bluntly tell you if you see a car in your dream it means your love life is in distress. I don’t need a book to feed me this BS, I think if anyone was to interpret your dream, it would be YOU. How would a book feel the same way you do?
Kinda pisses me off.
i once interpreted my own dream and then used a book and it said the exact same thing. you have to just understand just seeing a car may have nothing to do with failing in love or watever.
It all depends on what the car is doing, whether you are in it, what roll you are playing, even the colour can mean something. it’s not an object in the dreams that you interpret it’s the detail that you need to interpret.
though alot of the time books can’t do * granted and as you said the best way to interpret a dream, is to do it yourself.
The problem is, a lot of the interpretations found in published books are very general - like horoscopes.
“If you dream about getting chased by a dog, it means you are running from a problem in life, and should confront it.”
Who can’t relate to that?
Dreams certainly may reveal some important information to someone, perhaps concerning their health, or relationship issues… but in all honesty, the only person who can work what it all means is the dreamer themselves. Someone might dream about getting shot simply because they spent all day playing a certain game, not because their subconscious is trying to relate the symbolism to a part of their life that needs attention.
Yes, exactly. Nobody can tell you what your dream means, because nobody knows your thoughts, your history, your worries, except you. And only your thoughts influence your dream symbols. I think I’m just repeating what other people have said here, but I just have to agree with you, dream interpretation books are complete crap. This friend of mine just won’t accept that fact, everytime she has a dream she searches “car” or “bear” up in her little book to find out what it means. She just won’t listen when I tell her there isn’t only one direct and universal meaning to her dream symbols.
I just want to post this in agreement with everyone else.
Since dreams are a reflection of yourself…thoughts
this also means that the interpertation has to be from yourself…
easily said
In my dreams,
trees = women
water = money
boats = sex
“loose teeth = regretted speech”
ok… maybe for you.
but everyone is different.
And i don’t think that a book can tell you what your dream means. I think that you have to really look inside of yourself to interpert your dream.

I’ve often noticed that the best interpretation of a dream comes when you tell it in detail to a close friend. Just one word or question from that friend has often triggered the “dream translator” in my brain— there can be one sudden bright moment when it all makes sense.
