Dream lag effect - useful?

Hi, all. I recently read this article: PLOS ONE

I was wondering whether any of you have utilized this sort of info before. It seems that if you keep a regular journal and a dream journal, you could use the dream lag effect to help predict dream content and thus dream signs. It may be problematic, however, because I remember reading that dreams which review daily occurrences (more mundane ones) typically happen in the earlier REM stages, and these earlier dreams are less likely to yield lucidity anyway. Now, are these early REM dreams less likely to yield lucidity because they are less astonishing then later ones, or for other, possibly physiological, reasons? I’m just not that deep into the literature to say. If the former is the cause, then this dream lag technique might be quite helpful; if the latter, then I might as well toss it out the window.

Thanks - and I had my first intentional LD today! HAHAHA SUCCESS IS SO SWEET!
