Hello! I’m just wondering if there’s a way to increase the chances of having a dream in a specific setting. This would be for if you didn’t necessarily want a lucid dream (or you’re not terribly good at it yet), is there a way to increase your chances of having a regular dream but still in the place that you want, for example by thinking more about that location before sleeping, reading about it etc.?
This is an extremely interesting question. I’m afraid I don’t really have an answer but I just wanted to say I find the subject very fascinating.
I can remember a number of occasions where I would tell a DC that they could meet me again in another dream at a specific location, usually the location that same dream took place in. It’s not something that I’ve really had much success with but then again I haven’t really put much effort into it either, I imagine that it’s quite possible.
Pretty much in the same boat on this one. I’ll try experimenting with things to see. I remember once before I would write my top 5 things to do in an LD and top 5 places to appear and recite them afew times before goin to bed. The results weren’t all that great, but I think someone may get something helpful out of it.
Perhaps you could write it down on a piece of paper IWL and put it somewhere you’ll see often? And then you could then see the piece of paper in a dream and end up in that place.
Planing out your lucid dream, visualization, drawing, imagining and such things will help you greatly in inducing the setting you want.
It takes time and real intent is necessary…
Good luck!

Any new suggestions on arriving at a specific location in a dream habitually??
Its totally based on subconscious mind… you can set places, people in your lucid dreams…
You can also incubate a desired location for NDs too. So it’s still possible to do it without lucidity.
Visualize that location as you fall asleep. Basically, a VILD, except without the reality check. Though, I see no point in not throwing in an RC anyway.
Cheers!
The more we think about the location while awake, the more likely is it that it will appear in a dream too. I have heard of different techniques: writing about the place before sleep, drawing it, daydreaming about it, talking about it… The most effective way for me has been to imagine that I write down a dream about it in my DJ!
If it is a real location, you could try reading articles about it on the net. If it is fictional, you could try searching for fan art or fiction. If it is your own, why not try to draw it or recreate it in a game or sim?
