Dream recall help

When I started my dream journal about 3 or 4 weeks ago, I could remember quite vivid dreams. I woke up at about 8 or 9 in the morning(holiday) and my mind was always full with 2 or 3 dreams. But recently last week, when I woke up at 7 or 8, I could only remember very vague fragments of a dream. I always had to rely on sleeping another hour or so to be able to recall more vivid dreams. I have been using the same technique as when I began. I have a feeling maybe I want too much to recall my dreams, so that might be a problem.

So does anybody know what I can do to solve this problem? Also how long do you all practise recalling dreams before moving on to lucid dreaming induction techniques? Thanks in advance.

Your body’s REM cycle has probably altered itself for the holiday sleep schedule. I wouldn’t worry about it, unless it keeps up for 2 or 3 weeks.

Umm… I didn’t. :shy:
I worked on both to begin with, and had LDs.

Thanks Shadow Dreamer! So I don’t have to worry about it? It’s never occurred to me that it is my sleeping schedule. Anyway, the whole of next week is a holiday. More time to dream. Hehe…

No problem, glad to help!
Cool!
Oh, by the way, check out the new DR technique in the Lucid Lab! (started by spider, temporarily being run by me  )

Alright, I’ll check it out. I couldn’t remember any dreams this morning. I’m starting to think it isn’t about sleeping schedule. In time everything will be sorted out I hope.

I am having a similar problem to Dreams. For the past couple of months ive been recalling on average 3 dreams a night - so i thought that dream recall was something i had got pretty much sorted! But the last few nights i’ve barely remembered anything and i’m not really sure why

My sleep schedule hasn’t changed or anything. The only thing is that i’ve started concentrating on college stuff as well as LDs (back to college soon!)… but i need to be able to do other stuff as well as LDing but still keep the dream recall etc… going!

Any ideas, tips, help? It might sound stupid but i feel quite bereft - i have gotten used to remembering this parallel dream life! :bored:

Hi Cariad. Could the problem be due to college? Maybe because of work and stress or less time to sleep? Anyway, just be positive and worry less. Try to go back to the state of mind you were in before when you would remember lots of dreams every day. It might also be a dry spell. Hope your dream recall returns!

Thanks Dreams - i will try not to panic so much!

Oh, I have this problem too! In a little less than a week, I haven’t remembered any dreams! I’ve tried to, woken up a couple of hours before I actually needed to do WILD, but I remember nothing! :help:
It may be school; we’re starting to get marks, so I’m a little worried and nervous and all that, but I try not to worry. Okay, I really need to chill right now. Breathe in, breathe out… Sorry, but it’s wierd for me to have such bad DR.

Yeah its weird for me too. I always had ok DR even before i started trying to. Maybe a lot of people are having this problem because of going back to studying? I guess once we get back into it (and over the shock! ) then our DR will go back up.

I know in my case i was probably starting to get a bit lazy or take good DR for granted. Maybe remembering thats its important and to keep it a priority will help all on its own? :eh:

Yes, I think that’s it. Today I remember 3 dreams. Probably becouse I thought alot about it when going to sleep. I’m never going to forget to remember my dreams again, I swear!

Hey me too! I remember 3 dreams from last night… and i think its because i made it important again. I’m not going to take it for granted again either! It seems pretty obvious now that good DR is the most important part of any dream work.

By the way am trying out some Mugwort tonight - will let you know what happens! :yay:

I think this also happens to me sometimes. It’s kind of lame because I never learn

I work up good recall, get better at LD’ing, focus on LD’ing, focus too much on LD’ing and forget DR, get worse DR, get worse in LD’ing. Repeate. :eh:

But I also think stress (school/college) really interferes, specially with the getting up early bit

On another side, I believe other emotional states can decrease DR. Like if you had a bad day or week. Perhaps even little things we are feeling but aren’t quite aware of…

dream recall is tricky for me too one day i hav it one day i dont
