Dream signs - question

“Strangely enough, if we are not intently looking for dream signs during sleep, we will accept everything—no matter how strange—as we would during the waking hours.”

" Instead of casually noticing 8 feet tall pigeons strolling by the wayside, you should stop and say, “8 foot pigeons? Wait a minute, that can’t be right…I must be dreaming!”"

____________------

My question is just, how would i train myself to ask myself about something so strange as 8 foot pigeons when in a dream, I accept everything?

Its not like i can make a habit of questioning giant animals since i never see any giant animals!

Well, it really depends on what your dream signs are. I’m guessing that not many people have 8 foot tall pigeons as dream signs, although I have yet to fully track down my dream signs, I’m guessing they’re things closer to reality. Maybe: Oddly coloured fruit, which you could enforce by taking special note of how yellow the banana is and how red the apple is. If it really is something like 8 ft pigeons, the answer is to ether

  1. Be on the look out for them ( ) (Seriously, if you expect them, and intend to RC when you see them it might work)
  2. OR you can just RC when ever you see a slightly bigger than normal animal
Ether way you just have to train yourself so that if you were to see an 8 ft pigeon you would do an RC.

Hope that helped

That pigeon thing was just a quote, not my actual dream sign. I have no idea what my dream signs are…

yeah I know, but I was just using your quote to show that you don’t have to directly address dream signs, so long as you address the a group of things which are similar to your dream sign. Sorta hard to explain so i’l make a chart:

Dreamsign= Extremely large piles of spaghetti
Since this is a rare sight:

(Food)->(Large Food)->(Giant Spaghetti)

You could RC whenever you see food, but so long as you RC whenever you see large amounts of food you’ll catch the giant spaghetti when you see it.

To ease into dream awareness and forming the habit of RCing, you could simply schedule your RCs. Or, replace ‘8 foot pigeon’ with ‘opening a door’. If you’re able to successfully remember to RC every time you open a door, you’re on your way my friend.

RC every time you open a door?? I never thought of that :spinning:

Too much?

Yeah, that probably would be too often. So I was thinking, maybe a RC everytime you enter a different envirement. Like when you walk out side or enter a building.

What do you guys think?

The way I see it there are a few diferent types of RC’s. Well, not types, but “intentions”.

When people try to do a RC everytime they go through a door it’s so they get into the habit of doing a lot of RC’s for no specific reason so they might do a RC randomly in a dream and get lucid. There’s also the RC that you do just to verify (if you aren’t completely confident) you are indeed dreaming, after you’ve gotten lucid.

But there’s also the RC that gets you lucid, that you do for a specific reason such as seeing a giant pidgeon and thinking it’s strange. What I do to “train” myself with that one is simply do a RC and truely question yourself if you are dreaming everytime you experience something weird or exaggerated. You don’t usually see giant pidgeons while awake but if you get in the habit to RC to anything you find strange or odd next time you see a giant pidgeon in a dream there are higher chances you’ll notice it’s out of place and question the reality of the dream. This isn’t 100% of course, but the more you practice and do it the more your mind will get in that state of looking for and recognizing weird things, and that state of mind is what really matters.

Another good time to do a RC is whenever you see a reference to dreaming, be it in a book, tv or a conversation. Isn’t it the worst thing to see a comercial about lucid dreaming and then wake up mad you didn’t catch that?

EDIT: Oh! and after a while of keeping a DJ you’ll likely find your personal dreamsigns (remember that they can be very personal and complex or really simple like water or bridges, etc). Doing RC’s and paying special attention to the mwhile awake would also help a lot! (I don’t really do that though, not sure why… :shy: )

It would be good dedication practice. Though I don’t think it applies to dreams well. I don’t believe I can remember any instances in a dream where I’m entering or exiting an area - I’m just there, you know. For me, I think an RC every time I’m spoken to seems to balance both consistency and relativity. The nose plug RC is subtle enough not to catch much attention

Oh my god water is actually my dream sign, well bodies of water, I can’t believe I didn’t relize that until you said it, and I might try the door thing, sounds like a good idea.

I totally understand you DrGreat, cuz’ it happens to me all the time, in RL I tend to see or imagine anything as possible, so everytime I’m in the dream world, even though a lot of things seem pretty irrational I ask myself if that’s really possible and sometimes I agree that maybe it is hahaha, so this totally blow my chances to LD, and the thing is that I don’t always remember to do a RC.

In my DJ, I’m starting to make emphasis on the things that MUST reveal a dream of being a dream, I’m doing this by writing a special paragraph named “Details that expose the dream” in there, I write everything within the dreams I remember every morning that should tell me that I’m dreaming or that should make me do a RC.
