Dream within a dream Lucid dreaming

Just wanna say I’m a total novice to this. I’ve only started reading into lucid dreaming 2-3 weeks ago. I have had 2 lucid dreaming experiences years before, but both by pure accident. I was pretty amazed by both experiences but neither lasted very long.

Anyways, in the past 2 weeks I have tried to use the WILD technique to induce lucid dreaming, but to little success.

Last night I had the weirdest experience. For some reason I randomly did a reality check in a dream within a dream (looking at the digital clock method), and obviously I was dreaming. I was pretty excited and was able to hold the lucidity for about 5 minutes or so before gradually losing it (tried the spinning method, but didn’t really work) and waking up to the first level of dreams. I have never had a dream within a dream experience before, so I assumed I had awaken to reality. Anyways, the first level of dreaming lasted for at least another hour before I was finally awoken by my alarm clock.

It just felt really weird after waking up and realizing that I was so sure that my first level of dreaming was reality because I had awaken from a lucid dream within a dream. The thing is, after I woke up, I could remember the details of the dream within a dream more than the first level of dreaming.

Just wanna share this mind-blowing experience, not sure how often this is, but it is pretty damn cool. Again first time on the forum, so I might have put this in the wrong section. but “Lucid adventures” seemed fitting.

If I am not mistaken it is called a FA (False Awakening), and I read about someone saying it’s the subconscious mind trying to trick you to let you lose your lucidity.I think FA’s gradually happen more often when you start achieving lucidity.

But unlike you I don’t like waking up again and again  I like waking up once, one and done.

Thanks for posting I always enjoy reading other peoples experiences.
