Dreaming I was lucid dreaming?

Last night I had a dream I was walking through the halls in school when I realized that I had no idea how I got there.

I realized I was dreaming and was extremely happy because I have been attempting to have a lucid dream for several months.

Once I was in control, I got a basketball and threw it with super strength and then ran super fast. I can vividly remember how realistic the sound in the dream as well as the feeling of air moving past me when I ran.

After this, I guess I lost lucidity and it morphed into a non-lucid dream. When I woke up in the morning, I remembered the dream but being awake, it didn’t seem like I really had a lucid dream, that in my dream I had just dreamed that I realized I was dreaming.

Maybe this was due to the fact that the dream changed without me waking up. I dont know. I cant remember the dream very well after the school part but it involved being in a huge field picking giant tomatoes.

Any ideas on what happened?

I am a little confused on that last part. Basicly you are saying that you felt like you were not really in control?

Since learning about lucid dreaming, I have had about ten. And I have had events happen that seem impossible to not realize I was dreaming.

One was a dream where I was in my living room, and I thought to myself, ’ I think I am going to try to have a lucid dream. ’ And I got down and layed on the floor for some reason and closed my eyes.

Little did I know that I was actually in the dream. I don’t know if this relates at all, but I thought I would just mention it.

We call these FLD (false lucid dreams)

It’s pretty common for people that are aware about lucidity. It can be annoying, but interesting. Enjoy!

If you knew you were dreaming, you were lucid.

I find that if I don’t wake up pretty much strait after an LD (ie. I have one or more ND’s after it, before waking up), it doesn’t have the same sort of ‘feel’ and recall of a LD which i woke up from strait away.

Isn’t that what LD is all about? You dream that you realize that you are dreaming and take control of the dream.

1314 said they dreamt they were lucid. That is different than knowing you are lucid.

I know it sounds confusing … but it’s possible to dream that you are lucid and not be lucid. :bored: It’s very obvious to those that have had FLD that they are not actual LD s. I think it’s hard to understand if you have never had a FLD.

Hmmm… sounds like my first DJ entry

He knew he was dreaming = lucid dream .

It just seems to me that 1314 has a case of ‘first proper LD confusion’ (yes, that name sucks). He had an LD and isn’t sure if he really was lucid or not - lots of newbies worry about that after their first one. I’ve seen many many people bring up that question - hell, I did too after my first LD…

Yeah, I second this.

Perhaps you are right sureal! Only 1314 can decide this for himself however. We can only offer our opinions what could have happened for him.

Most first time LDs I’ve read end quickly, and the person wakes from them.
I do not often read of a first LD lasting long enough to fade into a ND. “Fading” into ND s is easy to do when you have lengthy LD s , and the memory can easily fade … or be totally lost if you do not wake from these dreams.

I have a habit of waking myself from my LD s to be sure I can record them. I know that if I continue sleeping I might forget I even had one, or the memory is so foggy that details of the plot or scene can not be recalled.
