The title says the question. What is a dry spell? (LD Related!)
Dreamspell and Dry spell are kind of different things… Dreamspell is a calendar And “dry spell” is a period without something (without lucid dreams, for example).
I’ll try to move this topic to “First steps to Lucidity” [Dry spell, what is that?)
Yus - a dry spell (here) is usually just a period of time where you haven’t had any LD’s. They go away by themselves, but it can be annoying having to wait.
Now I’m confused.
From what I understand: dry spell=period of time without LD
So when you wait it to end, you’re waiting to get lucid again.
And when you’re saying that they go away by themselves: so I’ll just have to wait and do nothing and I’ll become lucid when dry spell ends.
That doesn’t go with my logic, but I might misunderstood you.
Please explain.
Meaning you just have to relax and let the period or episode pass. Dry spells happen often.
Ok, so during dry spell you’re unable to be lucid in your dreams even if you try or use MILD tecnique?
And how do you know when it has ended?
waterfall,
My understanding of a dryspell is a period of having no lucid dreams for while even if you are using all your usual techniques.
I think there was a bit of misunderstanding going on the previous posts, and I think when someone said you should just wait it out, what they probably meant was that you should just be patient while keeping up the usual lucid dream methods. Sometimes it can be helpfull just to take a week off though (or even just a couple of days), or try a new method for a while, as this can help to shift the block and get you lucid dreaming again.
Thanks for clearing this out for me I got it now.
Yes, It means not having LDs for a period of time…Although I think it can also be a period of bad dream recall.
Dry spells for me are always from not dreaming, mostly from things like a prolonged period of stress, depression, or sleepless nights, as well as poor dream recall.
Dreamless sleep aside, (sleep wherein you do not enter REM sleep, caused by stress/depression or what have you)
I maintain that a devoted schedule of dream checks and excercises to increase dream recall will almost eliminate dry spells.
