Easier WILD with VG assistance

After 3 years without working on my LD’s I returned to the subject a month ago without much success in recreating my past experiences with LD I mistakly created a realy easy way to do WILD.

Anyway, yesterday I had a need to play the Castlevania and Metroid games, and I played for a few hours.
After I went to sleep I found myself recreating the gameplay in my mind and without beeing aware I found myself in SP and had HI, something I didn’t had for several years, so because of the excitment it ended but I figured out this might actualy workand I decided to share this with you all.
Do what you ussualy do before doing WILD, and then instead of concentrating on some feelings or counting, simply imagine the gameplay of a game you find repetetive, nintendo games such as the ones noted are great example, imagine like you are actualy playing, think about the platform jumping, shooting (or whiping or whatever the game contains) the different enemies, after sometime this will becaume almost natural as if you were actualy playing and simply continue to imagine the gameplay, this will clear your mind because it doesn’t have to do much, but the repetetive gameplay will keep you from falling completly asleep, the perfect condition for WILD and if done correctly the gameplay imagination will distract you from the various HI and if you realy want you might end up straight in your favorite video game.

Hope this will work for you, try it and tell if it worked.

(If you havn’t understood already, VG refers to Video Games)

This seems really good. I’m going to bed in three hours (1 AM here…) so I’ll try this  I’m gonna go with the old Super-Mario World for Super Nintendo
(Super Nintendo with Super-Mario World was the first game console I ever owned).
This will be an interesting night and I’ll be sure to post any results I get (Good and/or bad).

I already have experienced that I’m half asleep and have HI-like VG-experiences, but till now it only has been a pain. But next time I’ll try to get advantage of it! :cool_laugh: Thanks for the tip. :content:

I think it’s brilliant :cool_laugh:

Thanks, especially when it was invented by mistake XD

Most things are

Probably
Nobody would learn physics if some dude decided not to sleep under a tree…

Aye

First post here. I was going to try WILD when I came across your post, and while I haven’t learned anything really yet, you post makes a lot of sense as I’ve had game do this to me too.

Some games like Star Craft will work. But most recently I recall Lumnes puzzle music game on my PSP doing this. And more ironic is I would play the game in bed until I’d start losing focus. Then I’d quit and be upset that some how I was still playing the game in my mind, lining up the blocks and rotating them.

Of course this was before I was thinking about Lucidity and trying to create sleep paralysis. I’d try to get the game out of my mind so I could go to sleep.

I think that’s what I’ll try. I’ve never tried to induce sleep paralysis as when ever it’s happened to me I freak out and try to get out of it, sometimes feeling like I can’t breathe. I didn’t know it was kind of a pathway to possible lucid dreaming. I’d have it happen several times in a row when taking naps in the past. Since I’ve had it happen I know there’s a possibility of WILD atleast causing that.

What types of games are we talking about here?

Things like Mario on the Nintendo? That are pretty basic in graphics for you to think about easily.
I couldn’t imagine my self thinking about something like Crysis on full graphics, Just too much.

EDIT: This actually seems very similar to Instant lucidity

i actually might try this for one reason

When i play guitar hero at my friends house a bit, and then when i come home and go to bed i swear i always get some HH of Guitar Hero notes and i have to hit them

^ I agree I always see the random notes coming down. Maybe I will be able to use this to my advantage. I will write back.

I will definitely try this tonight and let u guys know how it goes! Sounds interesting. I’ve only had a few short lucid dreams over the past year or so, and I’ve hit a dream recall slump lately.

Ah! I was wondering if anyone else did this too. I usually attempt it with Jedi Academy. This technique works very well for me.

hm, this sounds very interesting. I havent done any lucid dreaming in a while…and I’ve always wanted to do WILD. Ill definitly give this a shot. oh, and just to throw an idea out there, simple mario-like platform games I believe are pretty easy to make…so someone could put one together related to lucid dreaming! Like have “you are dreaming” pop up instead of point when you jump on a creature…or make the graphics and effect more surreal/dream-like. just tossing ideas around

Well if it’s all in your head, then why not just imagine that type of game?

NIce to see that it worked for someone else, I realy should try using JA.

And about the type of game to imagine, I didn’t mean that it must strictly be something very simple, just do what you think will work for you, if you can imagine complex stuff without overusing your brain then there should be no problem, but if imagining complex imagary makes will cause you to be awake then use more simpler games.
Also I believe that playing the game you want during the WBTB phase might increase the chance to WILD.

I swtiched to pacman recently but still no success. I have had some progress with EILD though.

Hmm, I don’t think this would work for me because video games usually wake me up, get my adrenaline going etc. Then again I usually play shooter games, maybe a classic would be better.
