So this morning as I was attempting to get lucid, I decided to do some MILD. Rather than my normal routine of saying that I would remember to do a reality check, I told myself “either I will stay conscious during WILD or I will become lucid in my next dream if that fails.” I wasn’t able to do the WILD as I was pretty tired, but in my next dream I was semi lucid the whole time, fully lucid about halfway through when I remembered I was supposed to be lucid.
As I’ve thought about it, I remembered one of the things I was taught in a teaching class. When dealing with younger kids it is sometimes best to give them an either or choice rather than just a direct command (i.e. “you can either color or you can read, but you can’t sit around and talk to your friends” instead of “stop talking”). Perhaps our minds function in such a way that they are more likely to do what we want when given a choice. Who knows, it worked for me, why not give it a shot?
I like this. I’ll try it tonight, but first it would be nice to know what kinds of choices should be provided. If I just give myself a choice between doing two kinds of RCs, couldn’t my SC just ignore me? It’s probably best to have a choice related to waking life, like a successful WILD.
Hmmm…
“Either I shall travel to another planet or I shall realize when I’m dreaming.”
I personally don’t think it would work better than anything else, but we can’t know for sure.
I have noticed something in your post, tho.
“either I will stay conscious during WILD or I will become lucid in my next dream if that fails.”
The bold part was very destructive.
These suggestions are to be achieved if you truly believe that will happen.
I think you destroyed the first choice by saying that.
Just a comment, no hard feelings.
And I think I’ve tried this before.
I disagree on that, I don’t see it as destructive at all. I imagine my SC is able to pick up my intention.
But even if not, as long as it results in a lucid I really don’t care . Perhaps it could be worded better, but an LD is an LD. In a way I prefer MILD to WILD because it feels a bit more stable to me.
I did it again and with success. I did it as autosuggestion, not MILD (i.e. i didn’t keep repeating it over and over, just until I got the point). I also omitted that part Lord Antares mentioned and had not only a DILD but a WILD as well after it. If I can refine this tech enough, I might be putting this in the lab to see if others have success with it as well.
If our SC was able to pick up our intentions, then there would be no need to hide all the negative thoughts, like ‘‘aww, crap, I failed, I’m so depressed.’’
Hey, I remember reading this and decided to give it a try this morning. It worked! I think…
I had just woken up but kept my eyes closed, I told myself that I was either going to have a WILD or do an RC in my dream. I kept repeating that for about 3 times. Then I felt a tingly sensation all over my body, after a while the sensation involved into a painful sensation. The pain was unbearable, I had to wake myself up. Well I got up and already knew it was a FA, I automatically did an RC. I’ll try this again next time.
