You did nothing wrong. It takes a lot more than one attempt.

Either that or I’m confused about what you’re trying to say.

I’d suggest you play with the amount of time you stay up. Some people are better off only being up for a few minutes, others need a full hour. Just keep trying, I’d say a week at a time, and go down by 10 minutes for the amount of time you stay up. That might help you find your sweet spot.

I am not completely sure what you are describing. But there is a period in-between REM sleep and while you don’t dream here you can be awake/lucid. Mostly happens to me when doing WILD. If this is what you are experiencing then you just have wait till you move from this state to dreaming. It can take seconds or several minutes before the dream starts.

Also don’t watch TV or in monitor when WBTB. To be exact it’s suggested not to watch TV or in monitor at least 1 hour before bed time…

You are too impatient.
At least make sure you have trained your dream recall and feel a genuine, burning passion to experience something specific in a dream before you even start aiming for lucid dreams.
And try to stay motivated for longer than a week, because beginners tend to want über-fast results and expect lucid dreams to happen in plenty after more or less that amount of time, and then give up.
Don’t make that mistake.

Good advice has already been given, so I’ll just add that many suggest keeping your mind occupied with lucid dreaming during the short period between waking and sleeping, this could even just mean browsing this site!

Remember, you just have to keep a positive attitude about it and keep trying.

imm not impatient trust me. ive been trying to lucid dream for 3 years. i may bbe new here but not new to lucid dreaming. i wanted to know if your supposes to watch tv wile u wait for one hour.ive been doing that and everytime i faild

i also wanna know if your suppose to leave the tv on wile u go to sleep. when i woke up i stayed up went back to sleep and experience sleepm poaralysis. as i was going though it i could hear the tv. as i heard the tv it went from blackness to d=faded to me waking up… this happened everytime

I think it may be better to leave the T.V. or any distracting noises silent. Try reading about lucid dreaming during the hour that you’re awake. Like, completely occupy your mind with it before you return to bed.

Do you keep a dream journal?

There isn’t a rule that you can’t watch tv. It depends on what works for you. It sounds like it isn’t helpful for you. Have you tried doing something else with WBTB like reading or writing? When I tried the WBTB I found that an hour was far too long for me to stay up. I only stayed up for at most 15 min but that is what worked for me. Sorry I misunderstood your op. I thought you were talking about having the tv on while going to sleep.

Ah okay, it’s important that you understand what exactly it is that triggers lucid dreams.
Everything about lucid dreams boils down to one thing - awareness.
That’s basically what you are practicing in every lucid dreaming technique in one way or another: when you do WBTB you try to boost your awareness by waking up during a dream and then falling back into dream sleep again with an alert mind, when you do WILD you try to remain aware througout the whole HI process, when you do LL you try to maintain awareness of your waking life, when you do RC’s you try to determine whether you are awake or not - and so on.
So what you really need to do is learn to feel curious about your surroundings and regularly confirm whether or not you are awake, and of course also keep a DJ so you become familiar with your dreams and care about them.
To sum it up - develop your awareness of both your waking life and of your dreams.
