That would be dangerous… but I think it’s unlikely, because although getting lucid in dream is easy, it’s such because you already ‘feel’ you’re dreaming. I guess it would be possible for people with some mental disorders, like schizophrenia… such people should never start lucid dreaming…
Yeap. You better be 100% sure even in dream that this is a dream. The best way is to start flying, or smt what would be impossible IRL, before you start to jump out of building, or flirt some stranger.
Although IRL i have been now many times tempted to act out with people as boldly as i do in LD’s (like going to chat with total strangers, or whatever). But you should always know how to act in RL, and in LD, and discern between them. Although in some bad situations IRL it would benefit you if you imagine it all to be LD (although you know it is not). Like when you encounter with nasty people.
I believe waving your hand in front of them and saying ‘go away, you can’t hurt me, this is a dream.’ won’t help much IRL, no matter how hard you pretend it’s an LD .
LoL, that story reminds me, when I was first starting out on LDing. I was walking through school and wierd shtuff was happening, people were dressed funny and doing really wierd things (like if they were dressed in a karate gi they would be doin karate and whatnot) then I got into my first period class and the clock up on the wall was stuck and not moving. THEN my math teacher said “no homework today” so I was almost 100% convinced I was dreaming, but no matter how many times I looked at my hands, my watch, my friends watch, and the writing in my notebook. Nothing would change, I was like “doubleyou tee eff”
Well it turns out it was spirit week, the schools clocks are all hooked up to a master clock and the master clock was malfunctioning, and the math teacher was being nice… Doh
However now that I have had a few LD’s I know the feeling of it. hard to explain the feeling, you just know your LDing. Sometimes it does not even require a RC you just know. and I have almost been convinced I was awake in a LD before, but doing somthing such as teleporting (for me anyway) helps me relieze that no I am infact dreaming. THEN I let the fun begin
I think anyone who has had at least a few LD’s will agree on this: In a LD sometimes you might think you are awake, but when you are awake, you definately know you’re not in a LD. At least for me this holds true.
Not for me. I’ve been tricked into thinking I may be having a dream, when actually I’m awake. Luckily, I’m not stupid, and took more RC’s to make sure. This is why in my LD’s you’ll find I take lots of RC’s before I go do anything (look in my DJ, and you’ll see).
I beleive once you do a reality check, and it fails, you go “o ya How could i not realize im dreaming!!” Buts I dont think its possible to think that your TRULY dreaming if your awake. The realization of “how did I get here” should confirm that your awake. You would have to be pretty out of it for this to happen.
Well, I remember this one time were I got up from my bed but I couldn’t really see anything and I kept bumping into the table in the middle of room, and stumbling around. Then I went back to bed.
Then a few seconds later I woke up. It was pretty crazy, I REALLY thought I was awake. As in I was acting and thinking totally consciously as I would IRL. Heck, I was even thinking about Sleep Paralysis/LD’s while I was stumbling around - I was like “This feels like I’m in an LD almost”.
I don’t think I could really think RL was an LD. Once I realize it’s a dream I don’t even bother with a reality check usually, it’s just a certain feeling. I probably ought to thought, before jumping out windows Just in case…
I never do RCs in dreams, I just know it’s a dream because my dreams tend to be somewhat crazy at times. And I’ve never thought that I was dreaming when I wasn’t. The closest I’ve been is that it’s felt like it might be a dream, but it was way obvious it wasn’t a dream. But I’ve been dreaming many times when I thought I was awake
I have NEVER ignored nasty, or evil DC-s in my LD-s. I ALWAYS talk with them. Or at least have handfight with them as i had in one LD
So i would NEVER ignore them IRL. It just makes me more confident to think “what if this is a LD” and then to continue to be in the presence of those disturbing people
Well, one time, when I was very surprised (while awake) by something I wasn´t sure wether it might be a dream or not. However, this state of mind only lasted for like 15 seconds. And I didn´t think that I am dreaming, I just wasn´t completely sure to be awake.
So, I am not really frightened that something like this might happen to me. Perhaps when I am under a big shock, car accident or something, I might doubt reality. Yet I most probably wouldn´t do anything more harmful than staring at my hands for a couple of minutes
That happened to me the other day. I got up and did a RC at my hands were normal (i always have blurry hands with to many fingers in dreams) so went to the living room and turned on the light and it didn’t work so I tried it again and it flashed on and off, tried it agian and it was very dim. I did another RC but my hands were still normal. then I thought I saw a face in the window which was strange as I live in an upstairs house but it wasn’t there when i looked again. I felt very strange and floaty so I tried to levitate but couldn’t. I got my son ready and went out and saw some strange people in the street. Strange things kept happening all day and I felt like I was dreaming but all my RC were normal so I didn’t try anything unusual.
Actually I just rememeber that a few times it’s happened that I’ve woken up during the night and I haven’t really been sure if it was a dream or not. I did LOTS of RCs to make sure, but it turned out that I wasn’t dreaming I can’t rememeber why I thought that I was dreaming must have had some strange dream before or something, most likely a nightmare.
Lol, last night I had a LD and woke up. I did a RC and at first I couldn´t probably see my hand. Tried to fly, but failed, same with walking through a wall. I checked again and the hand was ok, I was really shocked that I mistook the reality for a dream.
Of course it was a FA
