Extremely close to a Lucid Dream?

Last night I had a pretty weird experience:
I dreamed I was at work selling ice cream (I am an ice cream salesman), and I was standing behind the van as usual, waiting for people to order packages of ice cream.
However, I suddenly noticed that the ice creams listed were completely different for some reason, and I had major problems finding them.
Then more and more people started arriving, and I started to panic - but then, I suddenly seemed to somehow know that I could escape, and told myself “I want this to end now” and woke up.
And then I fell asleep for a few more minutes, and then I seemed to wake up and then wake up again, like two awakenings at the same time.

Now I’m wondering - could this have been some sort of low-level LD follwed by a False Awakening?
Because it did feel that way, but I’m not sure what to make out of it.
The thing I’m most sure of is that I had a very short feeling of waking up before I woke up for real.

Maybe, so if you felt that way…

It was probably a FA then  Plus, even if you didn’t get properly lucid, realizing there’s something odd going on and that you can just escape is, IMO, pretty close to lucidity! I myself have many ND’s where I simply know I can’t die or get hurt (which is cool because that means fewer types of possible nightmare scenarios  ). Keep paying attention to out of place things and feelings!

The way you describe your dream. I know exactly what happened. Lets say one sleep cycle is 60 minutes. Now your fast asleep knock out. Meanwhile your subconscious is having a field day in your dream scape. Lets say you were 35 minutes into your sleep cycle. Your Subconscious moved to the ice cream part of the dream. You start to wake up in the dream not lucid yet. At the moment things started to get vivid and more was happening you did go lucid.
Here’s the thing because you were only 35 minutes into your sleep cycle. You couldn’t truly wake up. Your body was still in the middle of it sleep paralysis and your body isn’t going to wake up till closer to the 60 minutes. So what happened was you didn’t like the dream so your sub conscious change to a different dream. And what was that. A Dream copy of your bed room. If you had did a reality Check pinch your nose if you can breeze you’re still dreaming. That one would have been sweet! Full power, 100% lucid!
In my experience this has happen many times. Just when you think the dream is done and your back in your bed. Do a reality check its an illusion. Stupid subconscious tricking me into thinking that I’m awake.

Yeah, I used to have FA’s all the time a few weeks before Christmas 2011. :content:
The only tricky part about doing a Reality Check after waking up is that I always think I “know” that I’m awake, so I don’t bother doing any RC’s.
I have regretted that a few times, when I really did wake up “for real” a few seconds later.
