For LDs I’m currently using MILD, but I don’t need to stop WILDing here and there during naps. Just out of curiosity, why the hell do my eyelids force themselves open when I’m WILDing? After some time I feel an acid sensation on my eyes, and then my eyelids start opening, the only way to keep them closed is by forcing them shut, but that will stop me from WILDing. Also, when my eyes are half open, I kinda see things green and blurry, like I’m underwater. Green water.
I get that exact same sensation, only without the acidic feeling. My eyes just naturally open themselves and the only way to shut them is to force them shut. I did find, however, that if you do just let them open by themselves and stay completely relaxed, eventually they will close back by themselves and sometimes stay shut. Hope that helps.
Damn me too lol. I used to be able to LD easy, then I stopped practicing. But I have been trying to get back into it.
Recently, I have been taking a lot of naps to try out WILD. And I have the same problem, between this and the swallowing reflex. After like…20 min or so, I’ll feel a lot of activity on my eyes. kind of like they were rumbling…and they just start to open… I have no idea why…
Just let it happen? If the point of WILD is to make your body sleep whilst being conscious just let the body do it’s work. Fighting impulses won’t help at all. It will just wake your body. If you need to swallow, let your body swallow.
Just ignore it. The main problem with WILD is when your worried your not doing it right. Because if you start to think about eyes opening etc. then you will ruin it. Keep an empty mind.
i sometimes have a problem with eyes opening too, but one time when i was WILDing on the side, one of my eyes was touching the pillow (so it couldn’t open). that time i only had a problem with seeing with the eye that was free! so i’m thinking, a sleeping mask that actually touches your eyelids and therefore forces them closed might do the trick.
A sleeping mask does help me (nice call, avalinah) but when I’m not using one I do reverse blinking. Start with your eyes closed and the quickly open and close them, like when you normally blink. This tires your eyelids out and keeps them from trying to open as much. I hope that helps you all
Good god! That reverse blinking technique works really well! I just tried it for about thirty seconds then stopped and actually had trouble keeping my eyes open. I am forever in your debt!
I have this problem too. Thanks for the help Rhewin. I only clicked on this post because it sounded just like what I go through as I’m trying to VILD. Darn eyes won’t stay closed.
actually i used to use another thing, it’s also nice. turning your eyes in circles while they’re closed. read about that somewhere, it did seem to relax the eyes a lot too.
It’s normally because your eyes aren’t relaxed enough. Best thing to use is reverse blinking, after doing it for 5-10 mins, my eyes are so heavy that it takes a lot of will to even open them.
Essentially it’s the opposite of normal blinking. You just keep your eyes closed, open them slowly and close them again after 1 second. Repeat this a few times over a certain period of time and it’ll help relax them.
EDIT: I should really read previous posts, nevermind
